Local Biomes within Larger Biome

I've been playing since day one and the first Chansey I ever hatched was just yesterday. My Biome where I live is overwhelmingly water, Magikarp and Dratini are not too hard to find but Growlithe, Rhyhorn, and Chansey were incredibly hard to find until nest changes.

However, since I'm close to a coastal area I found a spot which has many rock, ground, and even fire types popping up due to geography I'm guessing. This had it's own smaller biome within a vast water biome all around it.

Eggs from this area are also different, hince my first Chansey hatch. Also common hatches included Onix, Rhyhorn, Growlithe, and I'm hoping Larvitar (yet to hatch one).

Anyone else with this experience?

I know some people refute that the biome helps determine the eggs you get from pokestops but I believe it to be true from my experiences.

I'm the opposite of you. No dratini's here and we always get Rhyhorns, Geodudes, Growlithe etc. So we rarely get any dratini eggs, even with the latest increase since we don't have water spawns here. There is one park near the river and that is the only place I have gotten my 2 dratini eggs from. My friends go down there as well to get eggs as that is the only chance for a dratini. My friend has gotten like 4-5 dratini eggs from that one area.

I've already hatched 3 larvitars and at least 4 Chanseys in the last month. But dratini's are so rare.

I have a very similar experience.

I live near the coast in a strong water biome (though I do not find many Dratini around and only have 1 x Dragonite). However, I have found a small area out in the dunes that also spawns various rock / ground types, where I can find some (not many) Rhyhorns, Geodudes, Digletts, Kabutos, etc and 1 x Larvitar.

This area also includes a Pokestop, which is my first spin every morning, and has given me provided me with a Larvitar, several Phanpy, Geodude and Rhyhorn eggs. I keep trying here for that elusive Aerodactyl.

I think that there is a chance eggs are affected by biome.

To be fair though Chansey were in a higher rarity tier prior to gen 2 eggs release. I was in a similar biome to your first one and still am....and have drawn 8 Chanseys since the update while having only pulled 6 the entire time prior to the change.

While I think biomes may affect egg draws in some small way I do not think your singular draw proves anything. Please do not read that as me not appreciating your addition to the information pool.

Chansey has been my recent addition that eluded me for so long. I have recently hatched three Aerodactyl from eggs gathered from the area I mentioned, the first coming right after the gen 2 release but the egg was dropped before the release.

I'm not sure about Aerodactyl's biome, being part flying it's hard to pin point. But due to the rock dual type it also had a higher drop rate than other areas I've collected from for months.

Thesliproad made a study and currently there's no evidence that supports that there's a correlation between biome and egg drops from pokestops. Spawns do vary from place to place depending on biome, but egg drops don't.

From what they have gathered they didn't believe so, but there are reports on both sides.

I don't think there is enough accurate data, my experience playing this game are spawns and eggs both have been very biome dependent.

As stated, the data doesn't support this, along the way as they get more data, there might be enough evidence to support it but right now that's not the case.

Note that subjective anecdotes might look like a pattern, but when you put in on a wider context they are not, people just like to find patterns in things.

From that report:
"We do not currently believe biome is influencing egg species - but more research is needed".

Their research on this isn't 100% conclusive. I know you love that report but from my own experiences and my friends there are only 1 or 2 pokestops in town near the river that will drop dratini eggs.

I have a pokestop across the street from my house that I can get from my living room and I spin that thing thousands and thousands of times. Never once got a dratini from it. But I have gotten at least 3 Chanseys maybe 4. Chanseys will also randomly spawn at that pokestop every now and then. Probably caught 4-5 of them as well from that spot. Not a coincidence.

I'd like to see a report from Silph road collecting pokestop biome data and the actual hatches from those eggs.
