Hi! Attack is always important, both for attackers as it increase the dps and defenders, since it raises the max cp (so that it ends up in higher slots in gyms).
The importance of defence/hp varies depending on different pokemons: basically you want a high iv on the stat of the two that is lower (since it would be a bigger difference in percentage)
