Level 27 wonder Golem with MS/SE

CP too high for prestiging, a slightly worse Rhydon on attack but how about as a diversity defender (at level 30, she would be CP-viable in my area)? I have 260K stardust and 133 candy.

If it is CP-viable it makes a reasonable defender. I would go for it. However I am also just a fan of Golem.

I think he is the rare pokemon that i like every evolution of. Geodude, Graveler, Golem. All cool designs and characters. Same with the Charizard Tree.

I think as a defender he does ok, but if you can put him into gyms with his CP I would choose a Donphan

In that CP range other diversity defenders would do better. Vapes and Eggs with grass moves annihilate them. So they won't make much diversity in attackers used. But whatever fits in your gym is up to you. There used to be one here and there in gyms way back when.

This is true, but it still forces an opponent to switch pokemon, which is the goal afterall with diversity.

Who isn't bringing a Vape now a days? With Rhydon and Tyranitar one solid Vape can speed bump all of them. Depending on what commonly occurs where you are of course.

As a defender, Golem isn't that great. It is ground + rock like Rhydon, but with less CP. Ground and/or Rock pokemon as defenders are only as good as their CP because almost everywhere, water or grass pokemon are easy to obtain. Whether its Eevees that evolve into Vaporeons, Exeggutor or anything with Solar Beam, Gyarados with HydroPump, there are plenty of accessible pokemon to make short work of any rock/ground type. If your Golem had Rock Throw + Stone Edge, it would work well as an attacker against Dragonite and even Gyarados since none of Gyarados' quick moves are water. But with your scenario, I'd save the dust.

I wouldn't advise investing in a defender with the rework so close.
