Latios Powerup?

Hi guys. I have traded for a Level 20 Latios that turned into a lucky 15-15-13. It has the dragon moveset. I currently have about 230 rare candy. My question is: Should I power up this Latios or save the candy? In the next month or so I'll be trading for a Rayquaza and a Shadow Ball Mewtwo, so I'm looking for some other opinions. I love the idea of the fast moveset for PvP and dodging, but I think there would be better choices for raids...not to mention the fact that we don't know how PvP will manifest itself. Any thoughts?

To me, Latios is useful for gym sweeping while the other big dragons (Ray/Nite/Mence) should be preferred for raids. Someone on TSR Reddit posted a time to win heatmap of Giratina counters at 5 level increments. A Rayquaza at level 25 has a similar TTW as a Latios at level 40, factoring in no weather or friend boosts.

If you don’t already have the Latios candy, and you already have a full squad of Rayquaza and Dragonite, then you may want to save your rare candy.

Latios is not as heavy a hitter, but it does have a 3-bar Charge move available and it lacks the double weakness to Ice. I like having one powered up (and those stats are great).

It would be a complementary member of a team, but if you are concerned that you may be misplacing resources, don’t.

On my end, I have a Level 40 and Level 37 Dragonite with 96% and 91% IVs, respectively. Both have DT/O. So those are a couple of great generalists. I currently have no Rayquaza or Shadow Ball Mewtwos. I'm curious if getting Rayquaza powered up would be worth it, as I already have something that does powerful attacks (though not as great as Ray), where the Latios would be a very different flavor of attacker. If dodging ever becomes meta relevant again, I think it would be very useful. But that's a bit of a gamble to say dodging will be important. That's essentially the dilemma I'm facing. Would it be wise to go for a different role, or double down on the meta relevant raid Pokemon. Also, the lucky nature of the Latios is tempting to preserve stardust.

I powered up my Latios to 36 but it was because I already had level 40 Ray, Salamence, and 3 Dragonites. I would power up more Rayquazza if I hadn't already had 3 maxed Dragonites. I don't raid as much as some so my rare candy is limited. I have't even maxed out a shadow ball mewtwo because I feel like the resources are too great for the added benefit past level 35. Rayquazza does hit hard but I find Latios quicker and more fun for demotivated gym sweeping.

Just bring it up to lvl 30, DB/DC is a pretty good moveset for both gym clearing and raiding Giratina

Powering up above lvl30 ain't that worth if you don't have any Latios candies left. Rare candies ain't worth too, obviously

Level it up if you want to!
The super nerds will say "NO these 3-4 Pokemon are the only ones worth leveling!!!!"
But reality is, almost every final evolution can be effective unless you're trying to 2-man something for bragging rights.

I can't relate on my big account, but my 2nd one I do all these Giratina raids with three 98% 3245 Rayquaza and three 3124 to 3150 Latios. My 2nd's second team has three trash level 30 dragonites that were traded to it for the B party (encounter Giratina dragon claw a lot). Never failed a Giratina trio with the third raider usually doing level 30 general damage.

***Latios good. Rayquaza great. Some of your stuff is maxed, but all your stuff doesn't need to be maxed to help
