Larvitar CD preparations

This is the first CD that I am actually able to play for the entire 3 hour window. And thankfully, it's the best CD so far in terms of meta relevance of the CD pokemon. I haven't really prepared for any CD before.

What items should I stockpile for this CD? Currently I have:
11 Razz berries
81 Pinap berries
53 Poke Balls
63 Great Balls
154 Ultra Balls
9 Incense
6 Star Pieces
1 Lucky Egg

How should I use these items?

Besides stockpiling items, what other ways should I prepare for this CD?

188 Pinaps, 176 Ultras and 117 Greats for me. Plus 11 Charged TMs and 7 Lure Modules (Star Pieces are a waste during the three hours).

Do you have a few high-IV Larvitars waiting to be evolved?

Decided where you will farm the wild Larvitars (including a wet-weather backup)? Is 401 still popular? You want many gyms in the vicinity for Tyranitar raids (and spare passes).

Have at least 100 spare spaces in your Pokemon storage.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

As far as items you look pretty solid. At most I'd suggest getting some more lucky eggs if you have the coins for it since the event is triple exp (unless you're level 40). Beyond that do everything hkn said.

Even if you are level 40, it's likely that the level cap will go up, reasonably soon, so you might consider stockpiling up XP for that bump.

It's triple XP, so 6 lucky eggs would be preferable.

As many pinap and ultra balls as possible otherwise. However poke and great balls work fine on lower cp catches.

There's a quick-catch or skip-catch-animation technique or something, that could be worth learning to maximize gains.

By far the most important things though?
Plan to be in an area with loads of unique pokestops and spawn points to maximize encounters (and get missions to replenish your supplies).
Have a battery if necessary to go the whole window.
Have Pokemon storage and item storage to not be to clear out while you could be catching (obviously you can immediately transfer any lower iv low cost larvitar, but if you're within 10-20 of your max Pokemon storage you may struggle).

most important is to have a high IV Larvitar or Pupitar ready to evolve during the event. Hard to do in a few days though if you don't have one already.

You don't have any influence on the most important thing for community days: The wheather. It gives a huge boost to the IVs and you will probably be able to catch 6 Larvitar greater than 84% and some with a high lvl >800 CP (check any above 700 instantly and evolve directly if it's good enough for you or mark it). You will get enough berries and balls if you play in a high density area. Without wheather boost you will be lucky to get one good IV one among 250 -300 Larvitar caught. Make sure to run six lucky eggs through the 3h.

Rather than just 100 free space, go for as much as you possibly can, up to 500-600. You want to waste minimal time on activity that isn't catching Larvitars or doing a Tyranitar raid.

Get your search strings ready, they offer massive potential to cut down on time spent appraising Larvitars. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/8qie0h/search_codes_larvitar_community_day/

If you can, get 5 more lucky eggs. Consider not using your star pieces if you don't plan to buy more, could be better to save them for mass hatches (after the event) or your 7th day catch streaks.

Farm more pinaps if you expect a good density of Larvitars.

You should be good. However, it never hurts to have more.
80 Pinap berries arent that much.

other tricks are:
- walk your 10km eggs now, maybe one is a good IV Larvitar
- go to a city center
- lure all the stops (easier when in a group)
- walk an efficent rod
- do Ttar Raids but dont go too far away for it
- Incense/Lucky egg all the time
- dont waste ur time by catching other pokis than Larvitar
- dont forget to plan some time to check IVs and Evolve
-also evolve some of ur highest CP ones regardless IV. They will be a good (and cheap) addition to ur team

Unfortunately you can never truly prepare for community day because you have to rely on Niantic's servers to be running well enough in order for you to stay logged in the whole three hours so you can get your exclusive move.

Slightly disagree about the Star Pieces: although there is currently no stardust bonus, we will be grinding pokemon heavily during CD, with the help of lures and incences, which optimize star piece usage. Since they often come in bundles I still have 15-20 star pieces and I always crack 5-6 each CD, with or without stardust bonus.

Now maybe burning all your 6 star pieces is not a good idea, but it's not a bad time to use a few of them.

160+ Pinaps and 160+ Ultra Balls. If you can find a nice park with a lot of stops and an ex-raid gym it’s all the better. I’ve raided three times on CD and got an ex-invite every time. My favorite spot so far is Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris, but that was a one-timer unfortunately.
