Just got my first Snorlax, what is he good for now?

Hatched from an egg, which is great cause I have never seen one in the wild in the many months I have been playing.

91.1% IV, 13/15/13 ZH/HB

I am powering him up to use as a defender mainly, but what is he good for attacking? I suppose things weak to psychic would be decent targets, but I really am not sure. All the chatter in Q&A about Snorlax is always defense-oriented, so I don't know much about using him as an attacker. On another note, I am happy to get A-rank non-legacy defending moveset :)

His huge base stats make him a fine attacker although much better with Lick than ZH. You don't see a ton about that because most people that post on a board are likely rather hardcore and have more specialized options on hand. But he can purely out stat most things in gyms if you have a limited roster. He is not potion efficient or fast though.

thats a boss defender and he will beat most on attack but youre better off using specialised attackers for that purpose.

Mindrivet,
I like to win gym battles in 20 seconds or less (darn you Blissey!) so I never use my snorlax. I try to find gyms for my snorlax to hang out at. He likes that the best.

I use my L/HB lax as the 6th Mon to prestige in high-CP gyms. If one of my specialist misses a dodge, I send him in to finish the job. ZH\HB could be used in that role as well, but you are better off maxing him and putting him on Defense.

he's an all around great attacker so you could use him for dragonite, other snorlax, or most gym defenders. I havent seen how it squares up against a defending blissy. Otherwise, you can use him to attack most of the Pokemon that are apart of the meta. Congrats on the snorlax!

He is competent, though maybe not the most optimal, for either attacking or defending. I recently dusted off a CP ~2200 Lick/HB Snorlax that I hadn't used for a long time, and I had forgotten how good of an attacker he was. That STAB HB packs a powerful punch, and with Snorlax, you don't have to be too afraid of taking a hit during the long windup. ZH is a little clunkier than Lick, but it should do the job pretty well as a generalist, maybe as the sixth attacker in your lineup, that can be used wherever you need him.

I'm not a fan of HB as a defensive move, because it's just way too easy to dodge, even for someone just learning how to dodge. However, it's still a Snorlax, and with those IV's, it can potentially get to a high enough CP to sit high in gyms and be a nuisance to attackers.

It's a good pokemon if not ideal, so just make the best of it and decide for yourself how you like to use it.
