Just got my first shiny!!

Magikarp cp44 (IV 44%), but I didn't waste at time powering him up as much as my stardust could take! Lol

Question is, was this a mistake? Should I have waited for a better IV Shiny?

Currently, based on his stats, highest I can get him is cp2974; max 100% cp is 3231.

It started off at CP44?? So it went from level 1 to what is it now lvl 32-33?

I would have waited till the event is over. Just in case I catch another better IV better CP one.

Plus in your case you have 2000K stardust left, so I wouldn't have powered it up at all. You're not exactly overflowing with dust. This would have cost you easily 170K star dust to do?

Fortunately you got a good moveset in my opinion and ultimately if you're happy with it, then that's all that matters. Looks cool!

A 44cp 44% IV Magikarp would be about level 11. Still a lot of dust.

I'm hoping if I get a shiny that it at least gets Dragon Tail so I can justify wasting that much dust on something to show off in gyms.

Congrats!
I have one that I will power up if I don't get another during the event...and it has worse IV than yours.
I know it is not the optimal way to play...but who cares, it is a shiny.

If I get a better one, then I will work that - but if not I will feed my current one with no regrets
