Jolteon vs Flareon

I am looking to add another attacker to my roster. I don't have a good electric or fire attacker yet. (multiple Arcanines with Bite/Bulldoze) I have the following options:

Flareon 100% IV CP 304 Ember/Fire Blast
Jolteon 98% IV CP 284 Thunder Shock/Thunderbolt

Yes, I have other Flareons and Jolteons but not at such a high IV level or perfect movesets for attacking. Is a 84%IV attacking Flareon/Jolteon that much weaker than a 98-100% IV one? Would you power up either or both of these pokemons? Which one would be more useful against the typical gym defenders? What level or CP range do you feel is the sweet spot to powering up attacking pokemons?

Thanks in advance!

I would power up the Flareon, better for attacking in general. If you are willing to invest the dust. I would go to high 20's/30

You can't distinguish 84 IV and 98-100 IV mons whem using them. But problem is their low cp. I dont know your lvl but at 30, you can catch 30 lvl eevees that can make the job done for you even they have low IV. I would never use my dust on eeveelutions except if I caught one with high IVs and level. Maybe if you say Lapras, Dragonite, Snorlax etc. I could say that they worth powering up from 100ish Cp.

I should have put this in my original question that I am at lvl 29. I really want to level up both for some diversity in my attacking as I refuse to lvl up any eevee evolution that doesn't have near perfect IVs and movesets. I have plenty of those. However as one poster mentioned, that the ease to get a high lvl eevee in which to evolve really doesn't make either of these pokemon special. I am just tired of not getting a good moveset Arcanine. And the Jolteon is currently the best electric pokemon.

I know you like seeing a new high cp mon in your storage but you need to hold yourself because in the end you will get one with high level and worthy IVs and regret what you have done. I'm lvl 30 and I only have one vap in my favorite list and caught him in the wild. He was lvl 30, 66 IVs and 2500ish cp. You will waste your dust on two very common and not high tier mons for 100 more cp.

just evolve a decently high level eevee in the wild. at least level 25 should be fine. it'll cost you less candies and dust than powering up your flareon/jolteon up to the point where they'd be just as good.

if you don't mind spending a lot of stardust for a marginally better pokemon, thats your choice.

you don't need perfect movesets or ivs to battle, gyms are easy enough as is. the difference between 38/45 and 45/45 ivs are negligible. most of the time even larger iv discrepancies wont make a significant difference to damage due to rounding.

it'll affect charge moves but not by much, like 1-4 damage depending on the move's damage, and then consider how often you use charge moves compared to quick moves.

in very rare cases atk/def iv is enough to bump a quick move damage by +/- 1 and thatll make the most difference, since those are the moves you use the most, but id doubt you could tell from judging the hp bar.

Thanks for the responses! I think deep down I knew not to level them up (hence why I haven't done it already), but it is so hard not to blow through stardust. I'll hold on to my 500k stardust and move on to, hopefully, better attackers. No more Bite/Bulldoze Arcanines or Confusion/Shadow Ball Alakazams or Twister Gyarados or Seed Bomb Exeggutors! No more please!!

Too low cp , dont power up both..
They are easy to obtain with 25 candys, even with the random evolution, or maybe u dont ser to many eevees where u live.
If to chose from both is obvious that its jolteon. New top eletric of the game and now really useful, specially against gyarados. Flareon is worse then charizard or arcanine.. But wait for a higher thunder jolteon.. Dont wast that many dust and candys

Both have too low cps for me to bother powering up.

In terms of usefulness I use Jolteons all the time and find Flareon a lot less useful.

I personally prefer Thunder on my Jolteon and I'd level up that Flareon to 40!
