Jolteon best attacking move set?

On this site Jolteon has 2 A grade attacking move sets Thunder and Thunderbolt but Thunderbolt shows on top implying that it is better. However the site also says that Thunder has higher dps. So which is better?

Depends entirely on how tanky your opponent is, meaning are you going to be able to use thunderbolt 4+ times or thunder 2+ times etc.
Thunderbolt kills less tanky stuff faster but thunder is better for longer battles.

Thunderbolt is superior in my opinion because you can use it more often and kill Gyarados faster. Also is great on defense.

Just comes down to play style really though, do you want to kill Gyarados faster? Thunderbolt. Do you want to kill a tanky Vaporeon faster? Thunder.

I don't think Jolteon is ever going to be a good defender but I think most peoples primary use for him would be to take down Gyarados who is not very tanky. No point filling your Thunder bar just before you take the gyarados down, then it's wasted, so I see what you're saying.

And I prefer to use Exeggutor against Vaporeon so it seems TB would be better for my usage of Jolteon.

Thunderbolt is better for dodging with a 2.7s cooldown and its very important to dodge with him since he have low hp. So IMO TB > T.

Thunder is better even with long animation you will likely get hit 1 or 2 quick attack but its possible to only get hit by one.

Thunderbolt is slight faster but not fast enough to avoid every quick attack. So for each thunderbolt you use you risk getting hit by 1 quick attack.

Ah, the old 1-bar VS. 2-bar question.
1-bar moves have higher DPS and you are left vulnerable less often; but in order to get the max DPS you must use it immediately. If you hesitate, any energy you would have gained is wasted (lowering your overall DPS).
2-bar moves give you a buffer so that you don't waste energy waiting for that hydropump or dragon pulse before striking. It has a lower DPS to begin with and you will take a couple extra quick attacks since you have to use it more often.

for jolteon, thunder has slightly better cycle dps than tb.

jolteon (0 Atk IV) vs same level, 150 def mon, non-SE:
ts/tb = 12.89 dps
ts/th = 13.15 dps

Another point not mentioned here is the overkill...i have a jolteon with 23xx CP and Thunder...the problem is that you mostly fight against gyarados in the 28xx region and by the time the second thunder is ready gyarados has something around 15% left...not ideal...so thunderbolt seems favorable here...if the gyarados is 3k plus then it's not that big of an issue...in the end it depends on your ability to dodge if you will be able to kill two gyarados with one jolteon regardless of moveset. I can't^^

this scenario dps

jolteon ~2300 = 180 atk
gyarados ~2800 = 155 def
ts/tb = 9.99 dps
ts/th = 10.285 dps
ts/dc = 8.47 dps

Honestly, with TB you'll still get hit with a gyara fast move, but less likely to get hit by twist or DP. I like both moves either way. The cycle DPS strategy I'm using also does not account for efficiency - as you don't always want to use it as soon as its charged. I find that most users are about 85% efficient - therefore the DPS is probably closer to 8.5 DPS. (this accounts for overcharging too)

I think you're splitting hair between the 2. Personally, I prefer Thunder because I like the big charge moves which I unload right after dodging the defender's charge move. Yeah, sometimes I kill Gyarados and I'm left with a fully charged Thunder but, whatever, I unleash it on the next opponent regardless of who it is...

I prefer single use charge moves when I am soloing a gym, and multi use charge moves when I am attacking with another player.

When attacking in a group, if we all have single use charge moves, then I notice that we will usually unleash charge moves at the same time obliterating the defender and wastes a lot of damage. Multi use charge moves helps stagger our charge moves and provides better energy and damage usage.
