IV91 Scizor with FC/XS

Hi all, just evolved an IV91 (ATK:15 DEF:12 HP:14) scyther to a FC/XS Scizor. I also had an IV84 BP/IH Scizor (plan to wait for another higher IV scyther).

Would you think it worth powering-up the double bug move to Lv30? It's not about consideration of candy/dust but rather a practical question - What would you think double bug move scizor could be used as an attacker? I know it would have great fun for the move set but not quite sure if it can only used against tyranitar?

I have both variants, steel and bug moves. Didn't bother powering them up though. They are already serviceable at 2200+ CP. (For me)

I think it is, arguably, the best counter to exeggutor. It is probably not the fastest (I think either Gengar or Flareon takes the cake) but it is the most powerful (resists all exeggutor moves plus double effective into him).

The downside is that bug moves are resisted by a lot of types. You will not be able to use it for a lot of types. However, you do have arguably the best bug type in the game (arguable with pinsir with bug bite/x scissor). If I were you I would probably power it.

This. I powered mine up and he just destroys eggs. Plus that moveset is fast as hell so you can fly around easily without getting hit. You don't have to have one but it's a fun attacker. I smile every time I see multiple eggs in gyms.

And to add to the above while he single resists everything Eggs can throw out he also double resists grass moves.

I'm considering powering up a bug eventually as it's the only type where I don't have a good attacker of, but as you said, I don't have to have one, but I do want to have one to see what it's like. 1 candy away from a scizor :)

Good luck. May the RNG gods show you mercy.

It's a beast.
I'm going to be original here, its best use? Blissey prestiger.
My 2400 CP FC/XS Scizor can take out a 2800 CP Blissey with a good chunk of healt left. Especially useful against ZH Blissey.
You won't get the max prestige points but it's definitely useful.

On paper, as long as being not with Night Slash, it is a decent attacker into Blissey.

The max prestige on Blissey is practically 750 anyway; so you are not giving up much. This is especially true if there are better prestige opponents behind her.

I honestly use mine to take out eggy, any psychic defender, or even blissy surprisingly does really well especially if they have Zen had butt and psychic. He is really fun to attack with but remember he's probably limited to those the defenders

I have the same one and like others have stated, I'd confirm that it's fun to use, but in terms of winning the battle, I think Flareon is king in knocking out Eggs even without the double SE. I haven't powered mine up yet, but may after I have a surplus of dust.

XS doesn't do that much damage so after a full energy bar charge, you still need like 10 seconds to unleash all 3 while a FS/O Flaeron will charge up 1 Overheat and destroy eggs after that...

The joys of powerful 1 bar charge moves like HP or Solar Beam (or old Thunder)...knock a Vap to half health, Solar beam with eggs...dead Vap...so satisfying.

What happened to old Thunder? Used to be the case where it knocks out 50% gyarados HP for a jolteon that's 500CP less. Now it's more like 25% gyarados HP. But I thought old and new thunder are both 100 power?

You're probably right...

It probably works similarly as before...but maybe all the garys now are higher level/hp so my level 30 jolt with Thunderbolt doing 80 twice still needs to use 3 Thunderbolts to take one out.

Every other charge move got stronger around it while it remained the same.

I have a Bp/Ih one, that I got on my first evo...I have tried 4 times since to get that exact moveset you have.

For me, it would be going to lvl30-31 at least.

Amazing prestiger against Exeggutor. If it's too high for prestiging, there's not really any niche use for it that another Pokemon can't do equally well if not better.

For example it could be used vs Blissey, resisting all it's moves, but there's plenty of other viable options too, that either do it faster or use less HP, or both.

Against Tyranitar there's also other options. Machamp being the first to come to mind, but even if you don't have one, I'm sure everyone has at least one Vaporeon.

It won't be the #1 optimal counter to anything besides Exeggutor, but if you don't mind that, power it up anyway. It's a cool looking Pokemon and you don't always need to use your top 6 attackers to take down a gym.

Yes I agree with you and all others comment. There are always better options than Scizor as an attacker (and also the review from GoPress) and that's why would reali like to hear all of your opinion if it's worth powering-up - in a more practical way - but I never think it would also be a choice against blissey! Definitely I will try it out against eggy and blissey (also enjoying the fastest and largest energy yielding quick move : ) )
