Saw a notification saying "Chikorita CD is this Saturday blabla" but no news coming up.

ITs most likely going to be frenzy plant

But they did the same thing with eevee, waiting until basically the last minute to 'reveal' what we all were expecting for a while

It most likely will be Frenzy Plant, and if so then we can assume the remainder of the starters will get the other elemental hyper beams. They could also introduce the Gen 5 pledge attacks and screw up everyone's future projections, so I guess we'll see soon enough.
