Is it me, or are pokeballs now rarer?
Have I changed my gameplay habits (leading me to use more balls, relatively speaking), or have pokeballs become rarer at stops, replaced by potions? I'm running out of balls now - my stock of balls is down by almost half over the past week, while I'm drowning in potions.
It seems like Niantic (like most game operators) overreacted to the potion shortage by both making raids throw them at you instead of the rare candy and charge TMs you want - and making them more common and balls less common from stops.

Everthing is dependent on your playstile.
I have do e 136 legendary raids since they came out.
before potions were added I went from 120 hyper and 250 max to 35 hyper and 140 max.
it also, changed my gym battling as I only used half health,Pokemon since I,had, too many revives, and not enough potions. Mind you that was with lots and lots of stops spinning.
So potions were a problem depending on how much you raided. But ninatic screwed up the simple fix of just splitting revives, and potions
I've had the same problem since before potions were given as raid rewards. For me, the potion shortage ended with the gym rework. Now, I use much fewer potions, and at the same time, they appear to drop from pokestops more than they used to. I use the potions I need, and then discard extras, but I still hesitate to throw away any of the 600 hyper and max potions (mostly the latter) that I have accumulated, because I remember the old days when I used to run out.
Meanwhile, the removal of stardust as a gym reward, plus the reduction of gym reward coins (resulting in fewer egg incubations), means that in order to accumulate stardust, I have to constantly throw pokeballs at every garbage pokemon I used to ignore.
Add to that the golden razzes and rare candies taking up space (and I'm not complaining about that), and there isn't a lot of space left for the balls that I so desperately need.
I actually ponied up 200 coins for another 50-item bag capacity increase, and have started setting strict limits on the number of potions and revives - of any kind - that I keep, so that I can keep a reasonable supply of balls on hand. The bag capacity upgrade essentially costs twice as much as it used to, though, due to the reduction in gym coins.
Before the new gym/stop combo I used to run out of balls constantly... and it seemed that whenever my ball count got low, I got more potions (and pokes escaped more so more balls were needed). Coincidence? I think not!
Now, however, I have > 700 balls, and only run out when traveling. And what do I primarily get? More balls! But that's OK, I remember the ball drought and would rather swim in them than run out....
I get a pretty good proportion of pokeballs from stops, but the problem is that I probably use over 20 balls for each potion I use, so I was already trashing potions in large numbers even before they were added to raids. I'm always running into my item cap, then running out of pokeballs, so I have to chuck 50 hyper potions to make room to collect a few dozen pokeballs. One of these days I might just discard 300 max potions so they aren't constantly wasting so much space.
Right now I have 3 regular pokeballs, 4 great, and 36 ultra, while I'm 1 item over my maximum capacity.
