yea that would absolutely suck. I have five dragonites. my first one (88.9%) was blessed with DB/DC. the next three all had SW (one caught and two evolved) each with diff charge moves which is good for variety i guess. the most recent once (91.1%) once again has DB/DC. I am happy to have two attacking beasts, and I strive to get one with DB/DP now.
Is it fair to be able to catch fully evolved pkm
You've been waiting so long to get a dratini from a 10km egg. You have to walk your guts out to save 125 candies. You are hoping to get a dragonite with Dragon Breath but it turns out it has Steel Wings. Then you heard someone just caught a L29, good IV Dragonite with DB/DC.
Doesn't it piss you right off ?

Sorry, I don't feel your pain since I live in a city that has daily spawns of Dragonite, Snorlax and Lapras. Maybe you should move? Kidding aside, I feel a different pain. Becuz those mons are easy to acquire, our gyms are only filled with the usual suspects. Plus, no gyms can be occupied for more than an hour tops. Most gyms are taken down within 5-10 minutes. For the occasional ones up in the mountains, I think spoofers have those covered and they are always Level 10. If u try to take them down, they will let you do so but then immediately take over and prestige it up to level 10 again. So my pain is getting coins... On a good day, 40 coins before my first mon is kicked out. Rarely do I ever secure 5+ gyms....
I agree, I get the worst of both worlds.
I live only a little North of Toronto. In the downtown core, people seem to get loads of Dragonite. Dratini spawn on the harbor. Even within a month of release, most gyms were occupied with Dragonite on the top and everyone has hugely high powered Dragonite (and lots of them).
I don't typically go downtown though, and when I do it's not for PoGo. So while I have some Snorlax/Lapras, my area doesn't spawn Dratini at all and I have only 1 Dragonite that I caught with Steel Wing and very low level. I'm still not even halfway to evolving one.
I think the whole catching mechanic in PoGo was poorly done. It bothers me extremely that you can finally get lucky and find a good Pokemon like Dragonite, only for it to be level 4. Likewise, you can find a level 30 Pidgey. How does that make any sense?
It would have been a lot better, for me at least, if Pokemon were restricted to certain level ranges when they spawn.
You'd catch Pidgeys only up to level 5 or so. So they'd ALWAYS be super easy to catch. They'd gain a bunch of levels when you evolved them.
Likewise if you were lucky enough to find a Dragonite it'd be minimum level 25. That would also require you to be at least level 25 before you got one. Would have been a lot more fair than me being 29 and only having found a very weak one, while friends found the highest they could handle starting at level 15 and going up to 27.
Spawn level depends on species (good pokemon only spawning at higher levels).
Pokemon gain levels when evolving.
Just would make more sense.
