Interesting Observation

The weather ingame was "Partly Cloudy" which boosts rock and normal type attacks. However my Starmie has its hidden power water type boosted and its hydropump not.

It must treat hidden power as a normal type move. Nice bug discovery. Will have to check all my hidden power mons to verify next time its partly cloudy - thanks !

Hm, in that case I wonder if STAB is applied.

Good question aswell, since stab water gun and stab water hidden power do the exact same damage, ill test it out tomorrow on chansey and see if by only using fast attacks the time to win is different.

Didn't hidden power get classified as Normal in the original games and you had to use it to find out what it does? Might not be a bug.

Indeed, HP is classified as a normal type move that generates damage of a certain type depending on the combination of the Pokémon's IVs. So the base attack is boosted when it's partly cloudy :o
