*Interesting* (I think) Sinnoh Stone/Gen 4 Question
Hey, guys. So, I have some excellent Rhydons, Piloswines, and Magnetons that I've been super excited to evolve... and then the ever-looming threat of Community Day Power Creep came to mind. Ugh... For now, I guess I'll just evolve 2-stage lines or 3-stage lines with a baby. What are you doing? Are you evolving any of your great 3-stage lines that might end up getting a CD? I know it's kinda dumb to plan for CDs that might not ever come, but the way Niantic only hands out the best moves during a three-hour window freaks me out. TBH, it frustrates and boarders on pisses me off.

Rhyhorns are somewhat common here so I won't keep any. But I also have no SD Ttar and no Groudon, so I might need a few Rhyperiors. Magnemite has a shiny now, so community day seems unlikely. Now about Mamoswine... it will get an excellent moveset with Powder Snow and Avalanche. Seriously, getting a good CD move won't make it extremely stronger, Mamoswine will be the top Ice type by far. So will it even get a CD? It would make more sense if Niantic gave Mamoswine a CD with a ground move, but as a ground type it's bound to be outclassed...
Anyway I won't hold back on evolving till I get 3 or 4 Ice Mamoswine for a solid Ice attacking party
I did get a little freaked out about evolving my rhydon, but gamepress makes a good point that if it gets a signature move it'll either be rock or stone, not both - so your old ones will still have value as the *other* type. Nobody is sad to have a double dark tyranitar. I might save my 98% lvl 28, but my other surf rhydons are getting evolved.
Same goes for Mamoswine. Avalanche is already a great move, and Mamo will be a great ice attacker with its double ice moveset - if a CD gives it a great ground move then cool. Magnezone similar - Wild Charge is pretty great as is. Basically if I have a need I'm filling it (save for maybe that one rhydon).
Its strange hearing someone else actually say theres still value in double dark tyranitar, a lot of comments when it came to event moves were often to the contrary, glad to see theres others who wont think just because something doesnt have its CD move its bad when its other moveset is still very relevant. (though sadly metagross is bad without its CD move)
If anything just have one high IV mon ready to go in case word comes down about a CD. by now there has to be over 200 unique evolution lines there is no way every one will get it's own day. Starters are a safe bet. As far as the gen 4 evolutions go look for: shiny release? 3 stages of evolution? Mega evolution?
Thanks to Niantic, my playing style now is only evolve when i need one, and i am satisfied with the movesets.
By that, i mean if i cannot 5 man a legendary, duo T4, or soloing T3 with unique squad non legendary.
So i just evolve a decent one for pokedex entry and let the good one for future use if i need it.
I said F.. all and evolved my 95% lucky Rhydon into Rhyperior. But I feel like you sometimes....all my high IV starters are hostages of future community days....the same with 3 lucky ralts i got from trading. I don't want to evolve them to Gardevoir (or Gallade as soon as it's released) for fear of missing out since they are prime candidates for CD. Luckily Gardevoir is not meta relevant now so it's not too terrible.
The long term effects of giving meta relevant moves inside 3 hour windows is starting to show, meteor mash Metagross being the latest offender to those who missed its CD
