Incredible luck

Yesterday I caught my first shiny magikarp. Only because of my GPS drifting at work. I was hoping for it for so long already..

1 hour later I saw another magikarp, told my colleague "look its gonna be another shiny karp!" and guess what. It was!

Later on going home I randomly found a Lapras with double Ice and good IVs 80+
I was kind of happy about it, but ultimately I kinda felt meh.

When the gym rework came out, I got fast and slow TM on the first day. Thanks to that I FINALLY could get double fighting moves on my one and only machamp. Oh and guess what, the next day I caught a Machamp from a raid...

Well, now I am sitting on TM's and the game has no more excitements. Its like you are holding hands for a year and yet you still remember how it felt to have *edit. more intimate interaction.

And let us not talk AGAIN about the horrible, disastrous gym rework

Basically, we now get everything we have long and hard grinded for within one week.

The gym system is broken (it was broken befor too, but in a different way), but the highly overpaid raids will have are much worse impact on longterm motivation.
I hope, i get some more rainbow-candies and TMs until niantic notices and changes this.

After a short period, we will notice that raids do not give us all. Even if you have cought 10 Tyranitar and 10 of each TM and 100 rainbow-candies, we notice that still dust and trainer level hold us back from getting stronger pokemon. So gameplay comes back to pidgey-grinding.

I doubt. Pidgey grinding was done because IV and lvl mattered. With that gone, so is the motivation to grind endlessly.

You catch or hatch something around lvl 25, power it up to 30 and its absolutely sufficient.

I do understand that they wanted to make it more friendly for the absolute casuals. Which is good. But the execution was a big turn down.

This is the only possiblility to get some dust and xp. So my motivation has not lowered.

What "sufficient" is, depends on your targets. To get 50 coins a day and do a level 4 raid in a group of 10, you do not need anything good.

If you aim to do big raids with few players, or smaller ones solo, or want to take down many gyms in short time potion-efficient, you may still will want better pokemon.

With the gym change I am not eager to gamble for some coins. The effort and credit is sooooo imbalanced. Its quite a joke. At least in my opinion.

Yeah, you are right. If I was aiming for raiding with as few people as possible, then Id have to max out ofc. But since my coins are being burned to raids and I am not going to pay niantic (anymore), I am soon out of this as well.

I can't aim to do big raids with few players, coz battles are so glitchy, so it's only about making team of decent 6.

Nothing quite like a double shiny day! What do the IVs look like? Are you evolving them both?

They are both around 40-60 %. I evolved the one with 13/14 attack :) Was looking forward to it for some time. I really like the red gyara. Unfortunately I am very displeased with the current game meta. Maybe my joy will come back

Smart move keeping one a karp. If trading is ever released its more valuable since it will give an additional dex entry!

Lucky you, I've given up on shiny karp :(

Congrats, at least shinies are still not common. Like "before", I enjoy putting all 3 of my red Gyarados in gyms, it seems to encourage Valor to attack them (I think they like the color ;)
