If you hit a gym just before a raid egg hatches, is that a guaranteed six coin?

The opposing team can't take over the gym during the raid, so that's 60 minutes, or 6 coin.

Does that work, or is that hour deducted from your defending time?

nope 6 coins, low grade eggs are the best as otherwise someone in the raiding group will likely take it out when the raid is finished.

Not necessarily - Around here, raids are hottest in the first 15-20 minutes. By the end of the raid, the gym is pretty dead unless you have some desperate folks who tried and failed, and are hanging around hoping for help...
