If immunities became a 0.5 multiplier?

Do you guys think that applying immunities from the main games to be a 0.5 damage multiplier would be a good idea?

E.g.

Ground would do 0.5 to flying

Electric does 0.5 to ground

Dragon does 0.5 to fairy (this is by far the most interesting!)

Psychic does 0.5 to dark etc.

It would make the type chart more confusing yes, but I think it's a more interesting way to change the gym dynamics than moveset changes (which angers a lot of people)

If they make STAB a 1.125 multiplier, it will be more confusing. Immunity being a 0.8 multiplier surely not making sense.

Agreed! Fairy is basically irrelevant in the current meta, while in the main games, Fairy has a valuable role vs Dragon. Likewise, as Psychic got a big boost in Gen2, it would be great to see Dark as a more effective counter.

Not a bad idea.

considering immunites in pokemon were different than "not effective" this would be a good way to restablish that difference.

Since in Go, they aren't any different than a NE.

Worst still there is something wrong with the idea that Omastar or Seadra are more resistance to Fire than a Ground is to an Electric

I’d welcome any change that increased the need for strategy, type consideration and general complexity.

I agree wholeheartedly. Don't forget normal/ghost, ghost/normal.
I don't think that making STAB 1.125 is a bad idea either.

It makes the math more confusing also.

If they were to make any change to immunity, I think it should be treated the same as a double resistance: x.64

That allows the math with mixed weakness and resistance to still cleanly cancel out. For example, a ground move against Charizard would be (flying) x.64 (Fire) x1.25 = x.8 the same as one normal resistance.

Sure. Would make people try to be clever with their types instead of just crushing everything with dragonites.
