If blissey were fairy/normal

I sometimes see people mistake blissey as fairy/normal. I'm wondering if she would be a better defender with that typing. What are your thoughts?

It would give Blissey double weakness against Fighting types and it is the worst thing for a deferder. Normal typing is solid.

Fairy resists fighting I believe. She would take neutral damage from fighting.

Yes, I have even looked at the type chart. Thanks for correcting me and sorry for wrong info.

No. She would be hard-countered by poison and steel then. It might help gym balance, however, to weaken her that way.

But the Dazzling Gleam would have punch! I think it would be close to a wash if it had DG.

Most poison/steel attackers don't have a lot of punch to their attacks - not the type of attackers to hit Blissey. To hit Blissey, you need hard-hitting attackers like Eggy, Flareon. Machamp would become a bigger threat.

So, Blissey would take more damage from Fighting/Steel/Poison, but would dish out STAB with Dazzling Gleam...

Fairy type resists bug, dark, dragon, and fighting.
It is weak to poison and steel.

A combined fairy/normal type Blissey would resist bug, dark, dragon, ghost.
It would be weak to poison and steel.

Resisting what may be the 3 best Blissey slayers (Machamp, Dragonite, and Tyranitar) while getting a STAB on DG sounds devastating.

To clarify resistance and weaknesses, https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon/40. Wiggly is normal/fairy.
No double weakness and neutral to fight.
Scizor with double steel moves will be a variant in that case, resisting DG?

Well look at what is most effective against Wigglytuff and you basically have your answer:
- Gengar with Sludge Bomb
- Flareon would resist Dazzling Gleam while dealing amazing damage with Fire Spin / Overheat
- Dragonite with Steel Wing
- Scizor with Steel moves would be a beast against her, dealing super effective damage while resisting her best moves (Psychic would be the best one to have in this situation, imo)
- Victreebel and Nidoking would most likely be up there in terms of damage with Poison moves, but they are frail so not sure about them... Muk is a bit tankier though.

I don't think Niantic has the power to change pokemon types. That would be up to Game Freak. It should by all accounts be a Fairy type considering its design and happy and healing nature but not for battle.
