Ideas to keep the game challenging and fun

Level 40 player for a while with many maxed out mons. I find myself more and more getting bored with the game and looking for challenges. First it was solo all level 3 bosses and all movesets which I can do easily, next it was time attack, next all unique Pokemon, etc I’ve done all different variations of this to keep me engaged. I was very much into Claydol as it presented a tougher challenge at first and jolteon in non weather boosted. What are some other ideas for in game challenges to keep you motivated. I for one would love to see all new level 3 bosses and some potential level 4 bosses that can be solod.

Thanks for any ideas

Are you in the verified level 40 club?

Some of the stuff they do are truly amazing. Just yesterday I saw a post of someone with 6maxed azumarill because that was his favourite mon.

Kieng IV have amazing solo ideas and duo/trio challenges. They just wrecked latios duo without using rayquaza, and duoed Rhydon with 12 unique mon across 2 players.

I'm still at the maxing out pokemon stage, but the above is something I look forward to do.

I was not aware that it was closed. Did you send in the points calculator for verification, and received a reply saying it was closed?

EDIT: I checked the new member link and it is indeed closed. I will monitor the group posts to see if it ever comes back open.

Judging by your first post, you seem like a more seasoned L40 than I am. I was able to get by with very low stats (for a level 40) using their points scheme last month (I applied when I had 21mil exp, but I had other stats like battles won matching a lot of others in the group)

Have you tried sending an application in though?

EDIT: I've looked at their link and seems that they have indeed closed it. Apologies, I think you definitely deserve to be in there if I am in it.

If you are into collecting, you can keep an eye out for a Lv1 Dex, 666cp Pokemon, Pokemon with round cp numbers, etc.
I started to collect Lv1 Pokemon 2 weeks ago after I saw a video of someone doing all T1 Raids with Lv1 Pokemon only. I have a lot of fun getting that Lv1 Dex together, but collecting stuff isn't for everyone, maybe Lecafe had just the right idea for you.

I collect a 96%+ dex (minus legendaries) which I believe is quite feasible for most and more realistic than a 100% dex.

I do keep some level 1s as well, they are beautiful!

Defeat Aerodactyl solo with only unique shinies. Gyarados, Raichu, Venusaur, Ampharos, Dragonite, Aggron. Be sure to record it!

He may be gone after the Kanto event ends. Good luck! I've never actually seen or heard of anyone do this, just something I thought up while looking at my shiny collection

Create a New account... I'm sure that would be challenging....

How many mons have you caught 1000 of? How about evolved ones? How many gyms are gold? These are things I’m pursuing, among others.

I'm doing the same solo challenges as you but it's keeping me occupied pretty well because weather ruins a lot of the raids and now there aren't raid scanners. One thing that makes the uniques challenge a lot more challenging is to prohibit legendaries and pseudos unless the solos are impossible without them (like Claydol and Jolteon). And you can go further and actively look for silly teams of generally unused mons.

Other things that motivate me:
Stardust grind, still have a lot more mons that I want to max. Currently at 55.
Medals, Ranger is well on its way and the Karp medal will get there eventually.
Collections, I collect L1 final evos and CP 666 mons.
Gold gyms and total gym badges.
Generic progress for the sake of the monthly TL40 survey. It's fun to compare against other players in my area.

The first time I saw a 6-Xatu solo against Machamp I knew those would be my challenges one day.

I've so far just done less hardcore stuff like Scyther with all Sudowoodos and Granbull with all Beedrills, but these kinds of challenges are super fun.

Yes, there are lot of challenges to keep the game from getting boring.

Take your pick, but try to get a mix of long term goals and shorter ones.

I maxed as many of my mons as possible, got to 160 before deciding on another long term one. Now I try to get teams of at least 6 maxed mons for each of the 18 types.

Some short term goals I use to rotate between are max the next mon, work on the next gold gym, try soloing with more challenging teams, or just walk 15 km in particular nice weather.

Living wonder dex for each generation? Good luck with Unown.

Well, getting one wonder Unown isn't too hard due to all the events that have given them out in certain areas, but a wonder of all letters would be quite a feat.

I've not reached L40 yet, 38 is enough for everything in the game, so I no longer experience farm, can't be bothered with evolve sprees etc.

For me, I'm collecting the lowest CP I can for everything (I'll keep level 1, and can evolve etc. keeping 1 of each). the picture is my current favourite.

For me I collect level 1 Pokemon (only keep the fully evolved ones and try to have each of the genders if there is a visual difference). I'm up to 135 of them (been doing it since January 2017). I also have a goal to get to 1000 victories, 100 days defended, and 1000 berries fed on all the gyms in our main palying area (currently have that on one, close on several others).
