Ice Beam vs Blizzard

Articuno and Lapras can learn both, they're rated similarly cause of IB longer cooldown despite being a two-bars move, in both pages Blizzard is inclined as being slightly better, but in Lapras case IB outclass Blz as a defensive move, which one do you use/ prefer?

In generally, two bar moves are preferred, because of how gyms are constructed these days with the CP decay after a battle won. One bar moves are often overkill.

To answer your question, for me ice beam would be better.

Ice beam for attacking, Blizzard for defending. Because a lot of people have trouble dodging Blizzard, as long as your defender can survive long enough to use it.

Blizzard is even easier to dodge than Hydro Pump.

I think you are a bit confused

I disagree.. Ice Beam is harder to dodge than Blizzard.. IB move came out as soon as you see the animation.. For Blizzard, it takes around 1-2 seconds of animation before it actually hits, thus it is easier to dodge once you see the Blizzard animation move starting.. IB is just like Hydro Pump, where you have low chance of dodging if you started a fast move just when the animation starts..

I have always preferred IB.
Even in the old system most DNites would drop from 3 IB rather than needing to wait for a second Blizzard...so less time for the 'nite to get off another charge.

IB > Blizzard

I'm in the minority here, but I prefer Blizzard to Ice Beam for attacking. IB is just too slow and has caused me to eat more charge moves than I care to admit. Never been blindsided by Blizzard.
