I'm being torn apart

I want to be free of this pain. I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it.
I need to delete all of the 100% mons that I caught using a scanner. Where I live everyone use it and that has been my excuse to use it myself. But cheating is wrong and actually not so fun anymore after a while (too easy). I totally stopped using it. Now is the tough part. I un-favorite those mons, select them and... and I can't click transfer. Or I start looking at them individually and say stuff like : ok i can transfert this one but this one i need it i use it all the time... scanners are wrong or they're not. If I decide to transfert them I have to transfert them all no exception makes sense.
In case it's not obvious I have invested a shit ton of dust into those meta relevant 100ivs not expecting one day I'd have second thoughts about how I want to play this game. And I'm close to flat broke in dust (145k) all this makes it even more difficult to do the right thing and transfert all those undeversed catches.
Does anyone here live in an area where everyone use a scanner easily available but still refuse to use it ?

Do you guys think ?
A) wait a minute, so this dude uses a scanner, catches a bunch a top tier 100iv mons, invest a ton of stardust into them and now want to transfert them ??? I have never read so much retardedness

B) What a hero ! Everyone around him use a scanner and they all have armys of top tier 100iv mons so he has to feel huge peer pressure for using the scanner like everyone else in his area but he renounced using it. Mad respect to that.

C)blahblahblah just shut up and play the way you want to play ! Even questions about whether to power up 14/15/15 or 15/14/14 are more interesting than this

Just play however you feel like, that Pokemon was available to capture anyways. IV questions aren't that interesting to be honest.
You're neither hero nor retard just feeling guilty for artificial luck, after boredom.

People are using scanners because the tracking system (Nearby) doesn't detect pokemon in streets outside stops. The stop reliant tracking system is to blame.

Plus i've used scanners for the purpose of studying pokemon behavior and i can tell you, if it isn't very close to you, it will likely despawn before you can reach it because rare pokemon only stay for 30 minutes.

Scanners are not very useful to be honest, they only allow you to window shopping rare pokemon unless it's directly 2 to 3 streets away.

I disagree, particularly because I live in an area near a freeway connecting three adjacent cities in one county. I've made some pretty close calls before.

Also some spawns are 1 hour not 30 minutes. You may say that this is a rarity, but tell me that after I tell you I got an Unown U on an hour timer.

You don't just need a scanner, you need a vehicle. I am a scanner user with no vehicle, and my only scanner caught perfect mon is a Hitmonchan. I do have a couple 98's from scanner though. My best scanner catches are a 93% L30 Dratini, and a 82% 14A L32 weather boosted Pupitar.

I also caught a high level 96% Chansey during Valentines event last year, indirectly from scanners. A crowd had formed there to catch the Chansey, where I just happened to pass by. When I saw then catching Chansey, I opened PoGo and caught the Chansey too.

Chasing scanner mons on foot is fun too. I had ran almost 2km in 10-12 minutes once to chase a 96% Dratini.

From my observations of social interactions I have concluded that, unfortunately, the primary means of competing or assessing who is the "better" pokemon go player is through bragging (humbly or not) what pokemon players have acquired as an indirect means of quantitative assessment.

When PvP does release (uungghh) I predict that the new way to quantitatively assess who is more knowledgeable and "better" at this game will be through PvP, and, if the current mechanics hold true (just for arguments sake) a plethora of other factors will most likely influence the outcome of the game rather than which person has more preferable iv pokemon (dodging, knowledge of typing, movesets, etc.)

WITH THAT BEING SAID if you feel guilty about having them, how about, instead of sending them to the grinder, you hold onto them, but do not use them in gym placements or battles, or even show them to people! When comparing collections, you could sort by favorites and unfavorite them.

The idea behind this suggestion stems from the belief that they may serve a purpose in a future form of PvP, direct player-to-player battling, for which I predict IVs will have less of an impact, and hopefully at that point, you may be able to appreciate them in terms of a new context, rather than in terms of possession (collection). As well, once you transfer them, you can never "untransfer" them. With this suggestion, you will still possess them, you may feel guilty about having them, but if they are not serving a purpose within the current objects of this game then by just sitting there they are essentially as useless as being transfered if you choose not to interact with them

IVs don't matter in pvp? IVs actually don't matter a lot in most situations, as long as it's over 70% it's on the board. OR it can actually matter in pvp with dodging and mind reading and potential combat rework like adding effects and status moves.

Respect for at least thinking about it.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Niantic is the only one to blame. They released a shit ingame tracker. Therefor if you enjoy palying with trackers then go ahead. Keep those 100% IV mons and fuck this legint/not legit shit. The only thing matters at the end if you enjoyed the day or not. Play it your way!

I think that the question here is not "is using scanner wrong?". It looks like your problem is that you don't enjoy the game anymore because all your achievements were through an artificial way of playing. Now you don't have goals to seek and the game is not appealing.

If you think that transfering all your 100% will give you new goals to enjoy the game, go ahead.
If you think that the game is going to be boring anyway... don't bother. You will quit playing eventually...

This ! The lack of competitiveness is starting to really bore me. The game is easy enough that i'm pretty sure if you live in a good enough area you could get away with never spending any dust at all, just catch and evolve level 30+ mons with 15att and that's it you might not be able to solo much but you'll have no problem catching any legendary and leveling up as fast as anyone. Iv's is the only thing that keeps the game alive I feel like : as long as you don't have all pokedex with perfect iv's the game can't be over... that would take a lifetime but now even striving for better iv's gets too boring. I wish the game would offer more exciting challenges. I wish discussing strategy made sense but when I read here everyday should I power up this or that like it's ever going to have a huge impact on taking down this or that boss or the number of balls you'll get (and like whether you get 9 or 10 balls is going to have a huge impact on your overall odds of catching it or not...) There is just no risk taking in this game. You could be dumb enough to accumulate 10million dust and dump it all on a pidgey collection and you'd still be fine, you'd still be able to catch legendaries with teams of level 30+ unpowered mons if you have enough raiders where you live.

I didn't read any of the comments, but people playing with scanners are playing a different game than how it was designed. You're the minority however.

I live in an area where everyone use a scanner and they consider anything less than 100% to be trash. One guy was showing me his many perfect Gardevoires, over a dozen Tyranitars and more perfect Larvitars than he will ever evolve.

I don't use the scanner because that isn't the game that I want to play. But if you enjoy it, then don't worry about it. If it makes you feel better, stop using the scanner but keep what you have. The dust you used to power them up was earned fairly.

I used to think that Scanners were cheating. Then a free scanner was released for my area, and I started using it to look for Gyms to see where Gym Battles were going to pop that I wanted to do because the Raid system is a great idea with a horrid implementation. (won't get into that here)

And what I see on the scanner NEVER corresponds to what I see on my Nearby Pokémon screens. My Nearby screens, almost every single time I look, have mostly meh Pokémon. Pokémon that aren't worth going out to catch (unless you're looking for a Shiny Swablu). According to the scanner Niantic built into the game for me, there's no decent Pokémon nearby.

But then I look at the Scanner. And there's a Slakoth between me and the nearest Pokestop. And there's a Ralts at the same Pokestop as the 3 Swalbu's. And there's a Nuzleaf near another Pokestop that's showing up with Nearby Pokémon. And there are Makuhita's all over the place.

None of which are showing up on my Nearby Pokémon screen.

I do realize that the screen can only show 9 Pokémon (maybe 12 if you count the main screen as well). But it consistently only shows me the basic and blah Pokémon even when there are other Pokémon in the area.

So my views on Scanners have evolved. To me they have become less a method of cheating and more making up for a deficiency in the game. Niantic SHOULD be creating their own scanner and charging people to use it. ($5/month wouldn't be out of the question) Instead they rely on the shoddy Nearby Pokémon feature, which is terrible.

Using a scanner to find 100% IV Pokémon? I haven't done this, mostly because the free scanner I've been using doesn't show IV's. There is a paid scanner that I believe DOES show the IV's, but I haven't paid for it so I haven't used it. I have considered it, mostly when it comes to trying to find the 100%'s for the Pidgey's, Wurmples, Sentrets, etc. so I can simply clear all the ones out of my bag that I shouldn't be keeping anyway (I'm kinda dumb that way, I know), but I haven't made my mind up about that yet.

If it was Niantic approved, I'd be paying for it immediately.

I say (B) – a hero for seriously considering it, whatever you decide to do in the end.
