I just picked up a lv 30 73% Gyrados with...
...DT/HP in the wild. How would you rank him as an attacker or defender based on moveset?
It's the first one I've ever seen in the wild. It wasn't even on a water spawn inexplicably.

Probably this is comparable to Rhydon with MS - SE. Hard hitting quick, although without STAB, and a hardly dodgeable 1 bar charge. I think the fact, that the Go2 counter Jolteon is a lot less tanky than Vaporeon absolutely makes up for the lack of stab. Add being s.e. into D-nite with DT and s.e. into Tyra with HP, so you will unterstand, why I think Gyarados has actually become a pretty decent defender now. I guess both Crunch and Outrage edge it out, but it should still do ok.
For offense Bite is by far the better move to me due to massive energy gain and the ability to dodge with ease.
I agree, this Gyara is gonna be a great defender, given the praise that Hydropump has been receiving for it's difficulty to dodge now with it's shorter CD and early flash.
It's also gonna be a beast for attack. Bite actually generates slightly less EPS than DT, though the shorter CD of Bite is better for dodging and has a nice feel to it.
