HP IV vs Defense IV

Since how long a Defender in a Gym survives is a combination of HPs & Defense would an accurate way of comparing Defense IVs to HP IVs would be opposite of the Pokemon's Base Stats?

For example using two highest Base Stats HP (Chansey) and Defense (Cloyster)

Wouldn't high defense on a Chansey with 500 stamina be more valuable than High HP on a Chansey?

Wouldn't high HP on a Cloyster be more valuable than High Defense on it?

Or am I missing something?

Yeah, i think this is correct, since Chansey already have super high HP, a few more points don't affect her so much, and a few defense point make more difference for her.

For any pokemon with one really high base stat, I think the IVs for the other lower stats are more important.

For pokemon with high base Stm like Chansey and Snorlax, I want high Atk and Def IVs and don't care as much about Stm. (The Snorlax that I am working on powering up is 14/15/0 and my best Water Pulse Vaporeon is 15/15/10.)

On the other hand, for pokemon with high base attack like Alakazam and Gyarados, I want high Def and Stm IVs.

Sure having all three high is preferable, but barring that, I want IVs that raise the lowest base stats.

yes, thats why im happy that with my exeggutor, its maybe shitty iv but it has 14 defense and confusion + psychic and its alrdy very high level for ower ups, im not swmming in dust so i cant level up good exeggutor from eggs.

many pro player would call my exeggutor shitty, cus they get theirs from eggs and have dust and candys to power them up
