How will this work?

"If you successfully defeat the Raid Boss within the five-minute time limit, you’ll have the chance to catch an extra powerful Pokémon of your own!"
I doubt Niantic will let trainers walk around with 25,000 CP Tyranitars in their bag. Perhaps the raid Pokémon will split off into regular versions of itself upon defeat, giving all the trainers who fought a chance at catching it (up to 20)? Thoughts below.

Sounds possible. Or players may get a chance to catch a Legendary species.

I am thinking a Legendary to match the colour of the gym it was before it became an 'egg' gym.

This is only going to benefit majority team, at the expense of the minority teams.

...unless all teams can battle it.

(...but that is obsolete now we know more anyway)

As far as I know, all three teams can join a boss raid together.

I Would think they would turn into a regular pokemon but hopefully with high ivs or cp.

Nothing says that a RAID can only be fought by members of the team that held the gym. It says "Up to 20 other trainers". This will be mixed teams.

I think you will have the chance of catching a last for evolution after the raid if all the players fighting succeed taking it down on the given time.

I am not thinking about legendaries, but of random evolved forms that are rare normally in the wild, like Charizard, Alakazam, Dragonite, Blissey, Golem, etc...

I'm guessing extra powerful means >lvl 30, i.e. at your current level.

Not the boss... But maybe a maxed out tyranitar with yet unheard of moves will then appear just for you?
