Several great things happened.
1. There were more players than ever at the local park.
2. The WhatsApp group I'm part of had EX Raid invites too, and thanks to them I've participated and caught my first Mewtwo. An 89% with 14 attack, which is pretty good. Might need to change the Focus Blast to Shadow Ball eventually.
3. Found a shiny mareep. No outstanding IV %, but it looks cute even as an Ampharos.
4. The "Catch 3 Mareep" quest was very useful when I needed pinaps and great balls the most.
5. We managed to cover half of the park and a quarter of the other half in lures.

How was your Community Day?
Hey guys, just wanted to ask how your Community Day was, and if you could get anything good out of it. For me, it was awesome! Caught 9 Shiny Mareep, one of them 91%, another 96% (both Incense spawns even), and from the EX-Raid 3 1/2 hours later, I even got a 93% Mewtwo (my 5th Mewtwo in total). So, what could you get out of it? Feel free to tell your stories.
PS: my commiseration for those that couldn‘t participate or didn‘t have any/much luck.

Was busy so didn't have the whole 3 hours. No shinies though I only caught around 20 so I didn't expect one. Up til now I still didn't have Ampharos (unlucky with 10k eggs and they don't spawn where I am) so I'm just happy to get the dex entry out the way.
Evolved one of each gender, evolved a third just as the clock went to the hour and didn't get the move though I'm not gonna use Ampharos anyway so it's whatever.
Quite dissapointing to be honest. My goal for every community day is to catch high IV/high level pokemon. Shinys are nice to have but that´s not the priority. I didn´t play the Pickachu cummunity day because I don´t care about useless pokemon. Dratini and Bulbasaur were very nice, because we had wheather boosted for the complete 3 hours on both days. Today that was not the case...The problem is not mainly the lvl 30 max instead of lvl 35, but the IV distribution. I caught 190 Mareep (had an ex-raid in between) and none of the ones above lvl 20 had IVs better than 84% IVs. The best three were a lvl 30 78%, lvl 29 80% and a lvl 28 84%. I hesitated a little but in the end I sent all of them to the proffessor. Managed to catch 14 shinies...
Hatches were ok, hatched 4 10 km eggs and one ended up a Bagon where candy were welcome, but all had crappy IVs.
Apart from that I caught a shiny Magikarp with bad IVs and got my second Mewtu at 93% 15/13/14, but that´s not part of the community day but saved the day for me.
Hatching and catching don't marry very well, to be honest. Because of that I feel that I couldn't make the best out of it. The reduced egg distance requires walking non stop, but inevitably there were cluster spawn of 4-6 mareep that you had to stop and check/catch. I only hatched a dozen of 10k eggs (free to play) on a 2h long walk. I was expecting more than that.
The positive: 2 shinies and 2 hours of weather boosted sheep (rain forecast didn't let us down!).
Bicycled to a larger village, caught about 45 Mareep in 1h40m, 5 shiny. Max 77% IV, I did not check low level ones though. I took some gyms down with help of the two evolved Ampharos. It seems every other quick move one Dragon Pulse is ready. A pity this charge move is produced quite slowly. It should also work nicely in gyms.
I had a great day.
I caught alot of Mareep (probably got 1000 candies from that), caught one 96%IV, but the rest was pretty bad. Got seven shiny Mareep, but none that was any good. Ended up evolving the highest CP one.
My goal for the day was five shiny and atleast one of them with high IV, but even if I only managed one of the goals I'm still okay with the outcome.
The best thing was actually spending time with loads of local players.
I usually go to a big mall where I'll see loads of Pokemon and the chances of shiny ones are higher, but it's also very crowded and it's hard to have fun as a group.
This time most players in my area decided to stay local so we got together outside, fired up a barbeque and ate some cake. That combined with a rather fine (though slightly cloudy) weather turned this Community Day into a very nice experience.
People are already talking about doing the same next time.
Also did a Mewtwo raid (didn't get a good one) and a three Latias raids. Caught two but none were good.
My goal was to catch an 82+% shiny Mareep and I didn't get there. So part of me is a bit disappointed.
On the other hand I didn't catch any shiny Mareep in the first 45 minutes of playing. So in the end I should be glad that I managed to catch 4 shinies. Fortunately I remembered to evolve on time this community day and got 5 Ampharos with Dragon Pulse. No idea what I'll do with them but at least I have options to choose from :p
Awesome. Mareep is not a usual mon which made this totally worth it. The shortened egg distance made the experience better because I never really hatched that many eggs before and there were some really old. It was also windy all week and its predicted to be tomorrow as well, but luckily it was not today. Got 5 shinies and evolved 5 mareeps. Only one got DP though, but its OK at least I got Amphies.
I was pretty disappointed. Caught 116 Mareep with only one shiny that came with about 8 minutes left in the event. I was thinking I wasn't going to get any at all, which would've been ridiculous.
Ended up evolving a 91% and a 93% that I've had for a while along with the shiny and hatched a bunch of eggs, nothing very spectacular.
I had a pretty good time and got some exercise, so it could've been worse.
Well I left early for the event but the town I’m in isn’t great for spawns or pokestops so I didn’t get much out of it. I had maybe 7 Mareep before and I have about 50 now. I walked for about an hour and a half nonstop trying to hatch eggs with two incubators and I only got one Shiny that was trash. Found only two or three keepers to evolve but I only played until a little after 12 as my gf came to see me before I went to work so didn’t participate much but still had a chance at it and got one Dragon Pulse Amphy
