How was everyone’s community day?

2 things kinda killed the hype for me. The water festival and that amazing Articuno event yesterday. I played about an hour this time, got 2 shinys and a high level Blastoise candidate and called it a day

YEah, egg hatch event was the best thing, i just evolved 4 Squirtle and called it a day on catches, spend the rest on hatching and it was great, got 4 10k's ready for that boosted egg hatch candy event after go fest

I concentrated on getting as many quests done as possible and it was quite satisfying because there was the goal of shiny sunglasses and the encounters could be chained to help complete the next quest. I also liked being able to play without the pressure to get as many good ones as possible because of meta relevancy.

The glasses gave at least a little bit motivation. At first, but they blew it. Feels wrong that there were more shiny glasses Squirtle than normal shiny ones.

Well, Blastoise sucks so the day wasn't bound to be great.

I used a few pinaps but mostly didn't use them unlike the last two where I pinap'd almost every throw (I only started again shortly before Charmander). Despite that, I got roughly the same amount of candies. I had enough to evolve 7 Charizard with ~200 leftover, 7 TTar with ~300 leftover, and then 7 Blastoise with ~100 leftover and evolving 3 Wartortle (shiny, sunglasses, and shiny sunglasses). So there MUST have been way more Squirtle spawns.

I also was much more focused on walking for egg distance and doing the missions rather than catching every squirtle. I probably let half of them go uncaught (checked, not shiny, left). With that strategy I got my most shinies ever (9 + 4 sunglasses shinies).

The quests were a huge letdown though. Never realized how important the balls + pinap quests were. I wasn't using pinaps so thankfully that stack is still there, but I went from ~240 ultra balls to as low as 100. The squirtles broke out a LOT more than larvitar ever did (I only had 1 larvitar break out the whole day, I had at least 4 dozen squirtles break out). A lot of orange circles even though larvitar of all levels were always green. So the few poke/great balls I got from stops got used up fast and I ate heavily into my ultra reserves. Sure, the sunglass squirtles were okay, but I ended up with so many of them that I ended up transferring 90% of them anyways. Fewer non-shiny sunglass quests and give us some balls quests would have been a lot better. I leveled up with 10min left though, which filled my bag back up.

Then there were the quest encounter bugs. Not just on squirtle quests too - I lost a Chansey encounter that I had from the day before. Hope it's sitting in my encounter stack.

The highlight though? Caught my first 100%. And it WASN'T Squirtle. Got a low level 100% Magmar, which was awesome. Hoping it will be good to evolve in gen4.

Pretty good considering I sat at a park and watched my kids swim.

With catches this one was also top . I went from around 400 to 1500 candies. And with that many catches my best Squirtle is 87%... and 91% from task. So much dissapointing here... Hatched 4 Alolan eggs to get 3 rats and 1 cat. Dissapointing even more. Only good thing were 2 Magmars 98% Its an irony, that in about 200 catches Squirtle i found just one 87% and for 18 Magmars twice 98%

Never met CD mon with IV above 91%. Its frustrate me more after each Community Day...

Overall, poor CD with useless mon with garbage catches.

I wasn't that excited for this one. Most of the other Community Days has had somewhat interesting Pokemon for different reasons, but Blastoise didn't really tickle my fancy. Sure, the added glasses was a nice thing, but nothing spectacular.

But I was going to spend this CD at a new place, a smaller town, so I was kinda interested to see what that would be like. In the past I've spent almost every CD at a big mall where there's spawns, stops and gyms everywhere. Here it's a lot fewer and I had to walk quite a bit to get to them all.

Didn't catch as many Pokemon as I usually do. Got perhaps 100-120 or so Squirtle, which is about half of what I usually get. And I caught less of other Pokemon as well.

Got 11 shiny Squirtle though, which is slightly more than I expected, though 5 of them were from quests.

But I still enjoyed the day because I got to spend it with some local players that I hardly know, and the weather was great.

And with both the Articuno day and this CD I managed to get just over 1 million XP, which I didn't think I'd manage seeing as this is not a big town.

Now I feel like I need some rest. These two eventful days has really taken it's toll. Lots of playing and lots of walking in warm weather.
Unfortunately the bonus XP event ends soon, so I really need to do my best to get as much XP as possible.
I set three goals for myself for this summer and one was reaching 30 million XP, which I felt was going to be tough, but with 620k to go I might have a chance if I get to do some raids tomorrow.

From 2 - 3:44 I would say that it was horrible - at that point I had one shiny with sunglasses and no regular shinies - despite non-stop catching squirtles for over 100 minutes.

After that it went pretty well - in the last 75 minutes I caught 4 regular shinies and two more sunglasses shinies.

None of them have a decent IV but given the lack of meta relevance I was mostly worried about quantity so that I could have one shiny at each evolutionary stage for both types. So, mission accomplished.

I got a bunch of sunglass ones with 91-93 IV and one level 1 that I caught that could be a 98 (or could be an 84). I had a couple 93s from research tasks saved up to evolve so I have an assortment of 93s with hydro cannon. However, considering I have a small army of high IV kyogre plus a bunch of high IV gyarados I really don't have any use for a slightly improved Blastoise.

Played for 90 mins roughly. Went to Southbank in Brisbane, which is a Torchic nest atm, so I was focussing more on those to be honest haha. Caught 9 shiny Squirtle but more importantly, finally got a shiny Magikarp with good IV too (87). When leaving I got an iv98 level 29 regular Magikarp. Good day all round.

Side note - second community day in a row where I got another shiny family as well - Got Omanyte when I got home on the Larvitar day. Anyone else had this as well?

It was boring...the egg bonus is worth nothing, Blastoise with it's special move is useless, catches without wheather boost make the chance of a good IV one unlikely in a 3 hour window (nobody would have played with rain making water types a poor choice for CD). Squirtle Squad sunglasses were way to common, making it nothing special to have and the catching rate was lower than on previous community days, making it really annoying sometimes. It only can get better for the next one. Triple Stardust should be back and Ralts is likely the next one with a great chance for wheather boost. Looking forward to this.
