It was pilot tested here in Arizona prior to the most recent roll out. The Sightings only seem to show 'mons that you can actually see (Sightings List is now irrelevant?). Not going to lie, it is a little frustrating. I live in the suburbs and have an empty Nearby/Sightings List (not a lot of Poke Stops near home). Anyone else seeing the same thing?
How to view sightings?
I live in Australia and we have just received the new tracking features. I understand how the Nearby feature works, however I cannot see the Sightings, being the Pokemon that are not near any pokestops. Is there a way I can access the sightings, if so, how?
EDIT: I have posted two pictures in the replies to further convey my issue. The "Sightings" are not visible, yet there are other Pokemon around at the time of the screenshot.

Same where I live. This tracker is stupid. In pokestop dense areas, it is functionally pokevision. In sparse areas it shows only pokemon near the one pokestop several blocks away with no indication of what is actually "nearby".
They spent three months testing this out in a city full of pokestops. Do they ever consider how this game plays outside pokestop rich cities?
They should have just brought back a modified version of the three-step radar.
