How viable will Tyrantar be for Deoxys?

We know from Mewtwo raids that Fast moves can make more of a difference that the charge moves (seeing as what confusion does to Gengar) and seeing as Tyrantiar's double weak to fighting, Deoxys has the highest atk in the game, and is packing Counter, Normally Deoxys's abysmal HP and defense would make it a joke (similar things happened in raids with bad hp/def with a similar gem sporting space themed pokemon in Starmie [I know it doesnt have counter, but the premise is the same, pater thin pokemon now having massive hp/def and strong attack]), but because its HP is fixed, its going to take some time to beat, so i'm wondering, how much damage will that be doing to tyrnatiar and if it will be viable agaisnt Coutner deoxys

(now agaisnt zen headbutt its going to absolutely destroy deoxys, so im not worried about that)

Tyranitar is super tanky, no worries. According to PB, it's the undisputed supreme counter against the ZH sets, but even against the C sets it's in top 3 TTW and 3rd, 4th or 9th (Zap Cannon) in TDO. It will perform great regardless of the Deoxys moveset.

If you can identify from the autoselect that the boss is running Counter, you may want to bring in more Gengars and Mewtwos if you want to optimize. But remember also that this is an EX raid and a really squishy boss, most of the time you will likely only need your first 1-2 attackers.

Counter will hurt for sure, but your bigger issue is if that's paired with Zap Cannon. Tyranitar has roughly the same DPS/TDO against the other 5 move combos, C/ZC is the only outlier. Either way it's still a top tier counter, a team of 6 alone can take out well over half of Deoxys's HP with varying levels of reentry.

I hope that theres going to be more EX gyms when deoxys comes out (like they make more gyms EX posable).

I had no doubts tyranitar would still be good, but I was wondering it if was going to be like a confusion mewtwo gengar situation, given how good of a move counter is, even nonSTAB pokemon like Donphan can make good use of it, and with Deoxys's sky high atk stat, I was a bit worried, good to know tyrantiar wont be completely taken out of the fight.

What makes Confusion particularly painful is its higher base power (20 vs 12), which after 1.2 STAB multiplier and 1.4 SE multiplier cranks it to 33.6, and that's before factoring in Gengar's paper thin defense.

While Counter in this case has a higher SE multiplier of 1.96, this only brings its effective power to 23.52. Much weaker than the previously detailed Confusion while also being used against something with significantly more bulk.

It doesn't matter because the moves will likely just be switched around anyway. I seriously doubt that will be Deoxys' final moveset.

People thought the same thing about celebi, and they didnt do anything for that. But considering this is *raid* I think they might

I really hope so. Psycho Boost is a joke right now and Swift is something that should be reserved for dex fillers and NFE's. Full bar moves like Zap Cannon have zero place on Deoxys since it likely won't get the chance to fire one off.

I think the bigger issue could be if he has different forms. All of the forms should be relatively easy to beat. The defense form could be a nightmare though. His defense while also not dealing as much damage could make him more a headache, let alone going against a potential Counter+Zap Cannon moveset. Will be interesting but since most EX raids host 15+ around here it should still be easy
