How much easier would this make tier 4 "duos"

Basically, after losing weather boost midway through a Ttar duo with my girlfriend and being unable to win it as a result (which I was okay with because I just wanted to try, but she wasn't happy at all about...), I decided to make an alternate account to help out in cases where we want to duo something that we should be close to beating.

I took the alt out on Zapdos day and caught it 9 level 20 Zapdos.
I intend to make the alt better over time of course (eventually get some Machamp, TTar, Mewtwo, etc... on it), but even as it is now: should we be able to "duo/trio" pretty much any duo-able tier 4 raid boss with the level 20 alt bringing in 6 Zapdos?

I'll simplify it even more: I'm only really interested in Ttar or Houndoom.
I have a level 37 96% 14 Attack Kyogre, a level 30 89% 15 Attack Kyogre (that I could power up more...) (both WF / HP), and 4 Machamp ranging from level 32 to 36 with 60-80% IVs (Counter / DP) (I think one is 32 and three are 35). Also have 3 Smack Down / Stone Edge TTars with 15/15/14 Attack at levels 32/30/30, a 91% Dragonite at level 30, and I don't think anything else is relevant (maybe a level 32 Breloom with 15 attack, C/DP? And a few Hariyama).

Girlfriend has one level 30 (or maybe a bit higher) Kyogre, 5 level 30-35 Machamps, 3 level 30 SD/SE Ttars, as well as some Hariyama and a probably level 35 Gyarados (WF/HP).

So those two with a group of 6 1850-1893 Zapdos coming from the alt - in any weather should they be fine against Ttar or Houndoom? I tried using the GoBattleSim here but it kept giving me full teams of Kyogre/Machamp results even though I put in my battle teams (obviously I'm using it wrong).

Trade it some average Eevee, evolve a Vaporeon, then trade it some average Vapes. Although with Eevee days coming up, don't go too far down that road. Just til you find some Machamps for it.

To what level do I need to get the alt to make that worthwhile? I don't imagine level 22 vapes will be that helpful?

The alt is currently level 20.

But yes, I do intend to get the alt a bunch of hopefully weather boosted Eevee to evolve on community day. Although if it's anything special I may want to focus on my real account... But I can't imagine what would make Eevee special...

they would be more helpful than level 20 zapdos.

How close were you from beating it? I would say, if you were 80% to 90% away from defeating it, you should be able now with the help of the zapdoses.
You should probably just try to raid 2 or 3 machamps for the alt account, with that you would be fine.

Makes sense, I'm not going to find Ttar and houndoom every day anyways, so I would probably take the Machamp when I see them.

I have Duo’ed Ttar with only level 30-35 Machamps in sunny weather (no boosts). Do not use Kyogre. Machamps should have 14–15 attack. Only use counter/dynamic punch. I personally use a Hariyama as my 6th spot so my last Pokémon doesnt faint out. Dodge charge moves only if you can survive them. Meaning don’t dodge if you have less than 3/4 health. Same maxing out a 5 machamp team with 1 Hariyama will easily take down ttar and houndoom. I would just focus on maxing your teams.

Listed the kyogre for houndoom, not Ttar.

We may be able to duo it now without weather. When we tried at the time, I only had 3 C/DP Machamp, two hariyama, and used kyogre as the anchor (but ran to go revive the Machamp instead). The girlfriend had 2 Machamp with C/DP, three hariyama, then a Machamp with C/CC. We were extremely close when we had weather boost at the start of the battle, but probably about 80-85% on the second try where weather disappeared entirely.

Haven't had any luck with machops getting good attack IVs. Should probably be using the regis as an opportunity to raid Machamp to get better ones with powering (although not looking forward to spending the Stardust, so much easier to evolve 70% level 35s...).

Thanks for the advice. Will try to keep my eyes peeled for Machamp raids and 15iv wild machops.

Seems OP is saying his Machamps are generally wild and many of them high level but in the 60s%. That's on his end, can guess his lady's a bit less than that. Nobody is hurting for revives/potions...try a legit duo a few times, at last gasp add the other. Seems he is ok with trying/losing/learning but the lady not as keen with that outcome. Keep her ok with playing, but on the extra account find something just a bit better than a level 20 Zapdos, half of them probably have thunder

There's 9, haven't checked but would assume expected value says 6 of the 9 don't have thunder.

And I'd actually say my gf's Machamp have better IVs than mine - she plays less but has better luck. She also is more keen to spend her Stardust on anything she uses, whereas I try to save it for top-tier stuff (so she'll power up the level 20 87% machop whereas I'll evolve the level 35 70% one - I'd want 94%+ with 15 attack to power up from level 20, which I can't seem to hatch/catch) (her Stardust is always empty, I was sitting on over 500k, just went down to 400k after bringing my 98% zapdos to over 3000).

I think the both of you could improve your own teams. With Machamp being a raid boss there really isn't an excuse to not have better Machamps. If you still want to use an alt account, you shouldn't need much. I would just stock up on some raid pokemon. Machamp, Donphan, and Alolan Eggy are all decent options against Tyranitar and should get you that little boost you need, especially if you get some boosted ones.

The excuse is largely that we've always prioritized tier 5s and ex eligible gyms to try to get more rare candies for legendaries. We had both quit for over a year, coming back at the end of April. So we have a long ways to go.

In hindsight, I should have raided fewer regice, and more Machamp/Ttar instead. Going to try to do that with registeel now. However during double candy week I was always looking for Ttar raids or Machamp raids, and not a single one nearby enough. Always happening farther away that I can't justify leaving work for them (my rule is 15 min or less gone, and obviously not missing meetings), and none in the evenings when I try to do most. Also a lot harder to coordinate - I can see a reported tier 5 and go there at hatch, can't do that with Machamp or Ttar as you don't know what they'll be in advance, then after you only get 45 min to get there and do it.

To straight up answer your question would be somewhat hard. My only experience with doing something like that was when I knew I couldn’t solo Ninetales and had no Gyarados I borrowed my then gfs phone with her lvl 17 account with trash moms. Despite only getting barely to Red I managed to beat Ninetales with nearly 10 seconds left on just that crap account. There was maybe one Vape at like 1000cp. I’m sure 6 lvl 20 Zapdos could do some solid neutral damage especially if you guys were really close to beating it otherwise

That has been my experience too. My wife's account is level 29 with a few good pokemon, but she often uses auto selected pokemon like Lairon (yup, Lairon) and Cloyster. Even with stuff like that we trash T3 raids. It really only takes a little to make a big difference.

For duo TTar, you pretty much need Machamp and Hariyama to do it. Other high attack fighting probably, but Machamp and Hariyama easier for me to get.
For Houndoom cloudy Machamp is good, Rainy Gyarados is ok to help your kyogre
Improve your team first

My first win vs TTar is in cloudy, just need 6 level 35 Machamp for my big acc, and 6 wild evolved machamp at lv 31-34 my 2nd acc still at lv 29 that day. Close in time, but still win it.
I keep improving the team, to beat it without depending too much on weather, and beat every TTar moveset which i have now

But if you still wanna use alt acc for Trio, just make 1 or 2 squad of fighting, at level 30 atleast just in case and you can pretty much win against TTar and Houndoom.
Even fighting Poliwrath can help if it easier for you to get one.

I suggest you build your Machamp Army first and make your alt account stronger. This will help in your raids with your girlfriend.
Here in the Philippines we have managed to caught a lot of 100iv Machops through hardwork by doing all night rare hunting everyday. We also did solo Machamp raids for the candies. As for the Tyranitar 2Man Raids, Challenge would be who get the best time to win.
Below image was my Machamp Army and one of sample of Tyranitar Raid. We only got to up to the 4th Machamp only.

Do cloudy Machamp raids when you see them to get the alt some level 25 Machamps. Obviously fighting movesets will be best to exploit Tyranitar's double weakness, but steel is still strong against rock so there are no completely unusable movesets. IVs are not too important until you decide to start powering some up.
