How good PC/C + SB Zam is

As far as I know Alakazam might have the highest attack among all non-legendary Psychic mons. As SB M2 becomes legacy, how good could SB Zam be? Basically they serve in the same way but I understand Zam has much less bulk. But facing Psychic raid boss like M2 or A-Raichu, if Zam can absorb some attack and release 2 or more SB, maybe it's till eligible as a glass cannon?

Except for possibly against confusion Mewtwo, I don't see how alakazam would ever be a better Shadow attacker than hex gengar.

Confusion Mewtwo may kill gengar with only fast attacks, but other raid bosses should all need a charge attack to get the kill - so it doesn't help alakazam to get to that charge move with 55% health instead of 20%.

It's usable of course, and probably there exist cases where it's better than gengar in mewtwo confusion raids depending on when it uses the charge move, but otherwise not optimal.

The issue is you are comparing a Psychic Pokémon that uses a ghost type move. There are other, stronger Pokémon that use STAB moves, such as Gengar, Banette, and Ttar. Mewtwo’s atk is so much higher, and it’s bulk so much better, that is why his Shadow Ball his so strong. Best to stick with Gengar for Shadow Ball strength. Alakazam shines with Future Sight.

It is probably servicable if you do not have access to M2, but it is much inferior to M2in this role. According to Pokebattler, at level 40 it is approx comparable to a level 25 M2. I therefore consider Alakazam mainly as a psychic attacker where the difference between the two is smaller due to better moveset (Futuresight vs Psychic)

Well, Gengar has SB with STAB, plus Hex/Sucker Punch, or Lick or Shadow Claw if you have an old one. But Gengar also has even lower bulk, despite the nice triple resistance vs. fighting. That would make Gengar a natural against fighting Eevee (or any mon with only fighting attacks).

Still, Zam is pretty glassy, and has the same weaknesses and resistances as Mewtwo, without being as strong. But part of the appeal of Mewtwo is that it has massive attack and good bulk. Not Ttar or Snorlax bulk, but better than Zam or Gengar. I think of Mewtwo as attacking with two Hex/SB Gengars, back to back, and only requiring one revive.

The reason I raised up this question is that I found my wife has a 2771 cp Zam with SB (level 37.5 I guess, ADS 151315 perhaps). Want to find some instant use with it instead of TM it, as TM may end up with FB or infinite loop (special thanks to Niantic RNG). I understand SB Zam definitely won't be a good investment, but as it's already that high, maybe we can save some dust and candy and give it a job.

As you already have it, why not try it out on Mewtwo and see if you like it?

As other posts state, it's serviceable if you lack better options but in most cases you're better off using even Hex Gengar anyway.
