So, using the renaming trick or the buddy trick is the only way to get this guys?
I've evolved something like 10 Eeves, (captured before and after Gen2) and i only get the old Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon evolutions.
Any experience about it?
Yup...name trick or buddy method.
This means that you can always be guaranteed what you want, and means there are not too many possibilites with the random chance of eeveelutions.
If Umbreon and Espeon were also part of the random eeveelution process you could go for a very long time without getting the specific eeveelution type you are after.
I understand what you are saying for sure.
But you do get to keep the candy so it could be said it makes the evo cheaper and it is a guaranteed evo.
To try for a Vape you may go through A LOT of candy before you get what you want.
Personally it is a trade off I am happy to make to guarantee I get my choice of Umbreon or Espeon, without reducing the chances of getting my preference of the other eeveelutions.
