They pull from the closest spawns. I wouldn't expect anything rare or desirable unless you seek out a pokestop in a desireable area. Your best bet is use them on a pokestop near a magicarp spawn, in which case you may get magicarp, dratini, poliwhirl, slowpoke, etc.... If you just tossing them on a pokestop on your campus, you will probably be dissapointed with the results unless you are real lucky.

I have a question about the lures. I am really happy to see that so many activities are happening again due to this event on my compus and I think it's not a bad idea that I can set up some lures to join the party. I have some questions about it though.
Is this true that lure provides you a new pokemon per 3minutes? It increases the probability of spawn of rare pokemon？It only gives you pokemons in the sightings list, or they are not related. Thanks!
