How do you use Gyarados with DragonTail/Outrage.

I just used a Charge TM on a level 33 Gary that I powered up long ago for high CP gym placements. It used to have Dragon Pulse which is now useless.

I wanted HydroPump or Crunch (for Gengar) but got Outrage. GamePress ranks Outrage high. Why? For Attacking Dragonite only?

Because it is a double dragon moveset.

My only Gyarados had DT/O. It works a bit like a poor man's Dragonite. Still a good generalist, but always someone better for the job. I'm curious to see how it will fare against the inevitable raid boss Dragonite. I suspect that's where it will shine.

I have a Gyarados with that moveset maxed. He is just a few CP points above 3000, I actually think it is a total waste now.

I have one at level 39 (I refuse to use 3 devices to obtain level 40) and he is largely useless. He may well be handy in raids for nite but tbh level 4 raids are about the number of resonably competent players so having optimal mons is only really useful for level 3 raids right now.

Outrage has high damage output which is complemented by Gary's high attack and the animation is fast so it's a win. Unless u fighting a Fairy Pokemon then R.I.P x_x

If you don't have a good lapras or piloswine with double ice, then gary with dragontail/outrage is almost as good against dragonite. Lapras and piloswine will do more dps and last longer, but if you don't have either of those, gary will suffice.

Fairy and steel are the only types that resist Dragon. It is also SE against Dragonite without being weak to dragon attack. Outrage is one of the strongest 2 bar moves. This makes a good generalist attacker.

I have a DB/DP Gyarados I use to clear the last two rounds on a gym, after the defenders are around 1200 CP. Works like a cheap Dragonite I've heard, still haven't got a Dragonite, but just hit 400 battles with the Gyarados.
