How do you rate this event?
I replied to some people about not having problems with fleeing or breaking out, well the averages have caught up. However I still have gained more XP per day than any event so far.

Can't argue that, My only problem for me.... I like way more of the Fire pokemon in this event than were in the rock event. So i would prefer they switch the Catch bonuses between the two events and I would rather have the extra pokeballs for the poke stop visits, and i think they were discounted too.(i also think this event makes more sense for that because of the flushing of gyms) Overall though, can not complain. Apparently everyone really wanted Houndour and they are everywhere. I am enjoying it.
The spawns in this event are much more "fan favorites" rather than metagame pokes. Previous events led me to focus on gathering Chansey/Eggs/Rhyhorn/Magikarp/etc. I think this one is more fun than some of the previous ones but it sure was nice to stock up on meta-useful candies. I just hit level 37 last night so don't feel particularly compelled to grind too much more for the rest of the week.
Probably the best event so far other than maybe the Valentines Day event but that one just because of the Chanseys. I like having the cyndaquils giving me better odds of getting one with a high iv. Plus the candies to build it up. Also other candies in preparation for the gym rework. Love the triple xp too
I'm enjoying it. Easiest XP out of all the events so far for me. Every other event sort of limited how much XP you can get because Lucky Egging still required mass evolutions which depended on your Pokemon inventory plus candy count. Was averaging about 250k in XP per event which still required weeks of hoarding.
This event I'm popping two lucky eggs a day at the minimum and have managed to get over 400k of XP so far and we're only a few days in.
B+
The good: Great chance for people in non fire/ice biomes to complete their dex / get the pokemon that will presumably be needed post gym rework. EXP bonus is big enough to really notice, and to get big sexy numbers when you catch stuff - without further buffing the already profitable lucky egg mass evolves.
The bad: Like the starter event, these guys are hard to catch, and run your pokeballs down in a hurry. There seems to be a tilt towards more fire, and less ice - even though ice mons are probably more important for battling, even after any rework. Focused 100% on catching.
Part of these issues are due to the nature of the list of pokemon species they're working with; there aren't all that many fire/ice pokemon to pick from. These events will probably feel better when we've got another generation or two of pokemon.
I liked the rock event more, as rock pokemon are considerably harder for me to get, and because of the 4x walking credit; usually whatever I'm walking is something I just can't get candies for any other way, where I care more about one more power up worth of candies than I would about one evolution worth of candies of any gym-relevant but not super rare species.
About the same here. I like the big XP score, and finally got enough candy for a Typhlosion, but it's a grind as always, and more so because fire/ice types tend to require lots of berries to catch.
The other gripe I have about this event is that every egg I've gotten since it started has been 2km. That's nice in that it means I can get the bonus for hatching more frequently, but it also prolongs finishing up the pokedex because everything I need to complete it is a 5km/10km hatch and I don't want to waste the remaining two uses of my 3-use incubator hatching 5kms. Thus, if the run of five 2km eggs I just got is not a fluke, but rather reflects that pokestops are ONLY giving out 2km eggs during this event, it's just delaying things for me.
So far is good, can't say it is the best event, type events don't work good for me because in my town we normally don't have many rare spawns. It is very nice though catching those Swinub, stocking candies waiting that Mamoswine would be a good mon to place in gyms and use in battle.
A part from that and the ice medal progress there is not much more I enjoy, I don't want more xp because I am close enough to 38 and was really hoping for more Lapras to spawn, still don't have a Lapras with 2 ice moves and decent iv to make my buddy and power up.
been raining here the whole time so hard to get out :(
but the pokes I am getting are some of my faves even if they aren't meta
they could have had increased stop drops though as the majority of these pokes have low base catch rates. It might not be an issue for people living in cities but for everyone else it makes a bad problem worse.
Mixed. On one hand, I can finally evolve a Charizard, Houndoom and Typhlosion. I've also caught 6 Totodiles- which was unexpected. And a Dratini. The XP boost can be awesome too.
On the other hand, I've given up using Razz or Nanab berries entirely on Fire and Ice mons- it is simply impossible to predict when they might work. I've taken to just throwing red balls at them until I catch them, which works just as well as berries and blue/yellow balls. Also there are only Shellder, Piloswine and Sneadels around - not even Jynx, let alone the mythical Lapras (which I know exist because I have two, one even wild caught!).
It's more frustrating than fun so far. Hopefully the gym rework makes it all worthwhile.
Love it!!!! I can't believe how much XP I've gotten just for catching mon and hatching eggs, it's unreal. Although I've overdone the walking and had to slow down, and it has rained a lot, I've used lures and incense - always with a lucky egg - and caught awesome mon at pokestops in my car. How cool is that?
I leveled up to 35 the first day of the event, and although work has interfered, am I'm neary 400,000 XP toward level 36! And if that wasn't enough, the icing on the cake was the first wild lapras I caught this afternoon, sunning himself in the broiling
Florida sun on a park bench (OK, near a park bench). He's only level 8, and not my first lapras due to the egg event, but still! (Catching him was easier than your average cyndaquil, LOL). This proves that unlike in previous events - notably Valentine's - rares are not biome specific. The odds against getting ice types here (other than hatches) are otherwise astronomical.
So, yes, it's great, hoping for more events like this one.
