How do you know if you are in an extremely remote area?

OK, it's known that if you pop an incense in a remote area, you will get unusual/rare spawns.

My question is, how do you know if you are "remote enough". Is there some kind of map on the web you can look at?

How remote does it have to be?

Don't have to be remote at all. My go-to place is 1km from the nearest big road and 5km from my city central (small city).

Basically it's a narrow dirt road with a few houses here and there.

Afaik, it's enough that it doesn't have a set biome. To my knowledge there isn't any map that you can check.
From my experience if Google won't bother driving there with their photo car it's remote enough. You could try checking your area in google street view. My place i bet has a street view so it doesn't necessarily tell everything, but if there isn't a street view available then I bet it's remote enough.

Map wise I'm thinking they use Open Street Maps definitions, so that might show you the biomes and stuff. Not entirely sure about that though, just some theory i read a while ago.

just make sure there are no spawns on nearby. I find if you move into an area where there are nearby spawns then you start spawning pidgeys etc.

I'm 30km from the city, 5 minute drive to the closest pokestop and 1 gym in a 20km radius... I get good spawns from incense but it's more likely at night time for a reason.

That is actually a thing. I work in three shifts so my gaming occasionally happens at night. I've noticed a lot less spawns during nighttime.
I've caught some pretty good ones at night buy not enough to make a quality pattern. Quantity wise I can say though it's a lot less.

isnt quantity based on standing still so one per 5 minutes or walking so roughly 1 per 3 minutes or so
