How to catch Dragonite?

I once had the same problem with a wild Lapras, it was so far away that I couldn't reach it.
Google the "L throw" technique.
After 20 ultra balls or so I finally hit it...

Try to turn on/turn off the AR. Sometimes after missthrow the pokemon goes further. WHen doing this, he comes closer again. I had the same problem once with the only Dragonite i saw. Could only touch him once out of 10 times

Put in AR mode, bring his head to the bottom of the screen so you don't have to throw as far, good luck.
If your phone has one hand mode try that.

I had same problem with low cp dragonite xD

I wasted like seriously 60+ balls, all my great and ultras and when i finally hit it with normal ball and got it....god i screamed so much and just started running like mad man hahahaha

And all other players and propably whole neighbourhood thinks im crazy lol xD

I have this problem with a lot of Pokemon. Where I live it is almost always really humid, so my fingers will sort of stick to the screen when throwing balls outside. It makes it really difficult to catch rare Pokemon even when I ditch the curve ball method and just do a normal throw.

Many hard to get Pokémons are catchable if you swipe to the top of the screen instead of halfway up. I don't use camera mode, and I always use ultra balls and raspberry s for the special ones that I MUST catch.
