Houndoom with fire moveset
Does it have any usage/niche? Seeing as there might be a move pool change with Gen 3, could it possibly be worth keeping in case of legacy status?
I'm thinking it could serve as a decent attacker against Metagross since it would deal super effective damage while resisting psychic moves. This is true with a dark moveset as well however...

Against Metagross, Foul Play is better than fire blast in every way. Both are super effective and have STAB, 140 damage per 100 energy but FP is 2 bar so less energy waste and flexibility with dodging and is slightly faster (2x 2.0s vs 1x 4.2s).
Fire Fang and Snarl are comparable, but Fire Fang with Foul Play is only useful against Metagross while Snarl with Foul Play does the same job and also useful against other Pokemon weak to dark.
Against exeggutor it shares the property as Scizor for having 3X effectiveness against exeggutor (houndoom double resists and single SE, scizor single resists and double SE), but you can achieve this with the dark moveset anyhow.
Houndoom as a dark attacker is a marginally worse Tyranitar (similar DPS but considerably worse défense), Houndoom as a fire attacker is not good because the moveset is not competitive (similar problem to Arcanine but at least Arcanine still has respectable stats)
