Hitmonlee as an attacker?

I recently got a Hitmonlee with a Low Kick / Close Combat. Is he of any use?
I kinda like this mon and he's got the highest CP of the Hitmon-family.
His stamina though is terrifyingly low, is this a big issue?
If I were to power him up, does he stand a chance against Snorlax or Blissey?

I got 2 Machamps with rather terrible movesets and Machops are very rare in my location, so there are slim chances for me of getting a strong Machamp any time soon.
