High IVs = ultimate rubbish moves

Ok this may seem like a rant, but yes i am pretty sure Niantic is taking the piss, just did a mass evolution spree, guess what, all the 91% IVs and above got all C-F rating movesets(Including 100% Phanpy which i hatched, 100% Totodile which i caught and several starters), while all the useless sh@t like Golducks or lower IVs get better moves. They can say what they want about RNG or bullocks, i am sure anything above 90% has a huge chance to get rubbish moves, just you know, hey try again play more buy more whatever ETC. Anybody experiencing this feel free to add.

P.S I will show u what i mean, 91 Blastoise Bite/FC 91 Charizard FS/DC 100 Donphan T/PR 97 Dragonite SW/H 100 Feraligator WG/C NOT INCLUDING the 3 91 93 97% Eevees which i walked into Umbreons and streaked into triple Dark Pulse addicts.

Same. Seems to me in the majority of the cases high IV mons have shity move sets while low IV ones have great ones. Felt that way since the begining. Of course with exceptions but speaking in general.

I think this is just poor (I mean really poor) game design by Niantic. Evolving 'mons should be fun, not tragic. There's got to be a way to get the moves you want on the mons that you want them on (usually your high-IV ones). Whether it's TMs or breeding, or whatever new mechanic, it's just critical to the enjoyment of the game.

Disagree. It wouldn't be much fun if everybody was able to give all their high IV mons the perfect movesets. We would see all the same movesets in every gym, and no diversity. It would also take a lot of the decision-making out of the game, because you'd always know what you were going to get. And ideal movesets wouldn't be as ideal if everyone had them.

Seriously? This is entirely out of line with every known version of Pokemon games prior to Go. In the traditional games you can always invest your time and resources in getting the mons that you want, whether by TMs, breeding, trading, et al. This is the secret sauce behind making the games sticky. Plus, I completely disagree that everyone would want the same movesets. There would actually be more diversity if half the movesets didn't suck, and if mons could learn a wider range of moves. There are so many ways to handle it, I can't believe we're still stuck with RNG.

"And ideal movesets wouldn't be as ideal if everyone had them."

So you're telling me if everyone got hydro pump on the Gyarados, that would improve twister and make hydro pump less idea? Sorry, that logic doesn't check out.

No, that's not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying NOBODY will have twister, because why would they, if they had the option to just choose hydro pump? And, to my comment that you put in quotes, if everyone therefore has hydro pump, then there is no differentiation, and thus no advantage to having an ideal moveset.

I could make a comment about your reading comprehension that is similar to the one you made about my logic, but I'll refrain.

Most players don't care too much about IV or moves, the more invested players do, and those players are usually willing to put in the work to get the moves they want in the pokemon with the IV's they want.

Without commenting on RNG and shit, I must say that I personally have this experience.

Maybe the programming is leaning to high IV mons get a better defensive moveset.

I evolved an 87 IV Larvitar and got IT/FB…..I just got enough candy this week for another evolve, and I had an 82 IV Larvitar ready to go. Then I thought about it and I also had a lvl 30 Larvitar only 73 IV and said f**k it. Got a 3045 T-rex with IT/Crunch and I am happy with that moveset. I am not going to invest in it at all as it is plenty strong to hold gyms. My advice: go for a happy middle of IV and CP, and you won’t be let down as much. If you evolve a high CP/lvl mon and get a good moveset, great! If you don’t, then you don’t feel like you wasted your time because hey it still has high CP, and the IV doesn’t matter as much because you don’t have to invest. I have a bunch of 85-98 IV’s with absolute crap moves that just sit around at a mediocre CP.

I think Niantic only does this with certain players. They have figured out who the biggest whiners are, and they make sure those players always get the bad movesets on their most prized pokemon. Pretty funny on their part, actually.

Nobody should get stuck (forever) with bad move sets on their prized pokemon! That is crappy design!

Great, so everybody gets to evolve the best moveset on the first high IV specimen they catch of every pokemon. That would get old very fast.

My 100% Rhydon with Rock Smash/Megahorn agrees with the OP.

Yes, I've got the same impression many times. 82% gets decent moves, 91-100% get worst...
But then, sometimes you just evolve your 98% and get exactly what you were hoping for...

Well, i got lucky with my fist evolved 100% IV Dratini. I got Dragon Breath/Dragon Claw, that used to be the best attacking MS.

6 ratticates with bite/hyper beam in a row, 5 piloswines with snow powder/avalanche in a row, almost 10 golducks with water gun/hydropump and several wigglytuffs with pound/hyperbeam . but 90% of eeveelutions, all starters and rhydon have the worst movesets available.

but maybe there is an algorythm that buffs low stat pokemon.

Have same experience. Thought may be it is just my luck.

I don't know that bad movesets are linked to IVs, rather I think there is a higher percentage of getting certain movesets, like SW/HB on Dragonite has a higher chance than DT/O or DB/DC. To better know, we would need to have numbers from BAD iv pokemon, but no one is evolving bad iv pokemon.
