Help for team set-up on a Scyther raid.

With the raid pool changed, one of the new Pokemon from the list has peaked my interest. Scizor is one of my favorite Pokemon, so grabbing a really good one is something I plan to do real soon.

I've never done a solo T3 raid before, so excuse the lack of confidence and experience. I have the following Pokemon with me and was wondering which ones should be selected for the challenge and in which order. Thanks.

Tyranitar
- CP 3087 (Level 30)
- Bite/Stone Edge

Dragonite
- CP 3041 (Level 30)
- Dragon Tail/Outrage

Raikou
- CP 2822 (Level 30)
- Thundershock/Thunderbolt

Zapdos
- CP 2819 (Level 30)
- Charge Beam/Zap Cannon

Rhydon
- CP 2773 (Level 30)
- Mud Slap/Stone Edge

Golem
- CP 2467 (Level 30)
- Rock Throw/Rock Blast

Arcanine
- CP2434 (Level 30.5)
- Fire Fang/Fire Blast

Jolteon
- CP 2302 (Level 30)
- Thundershock/Thunderbolt

Golem
- CP 2296 (Level 28)
- Mud-Slap/Stone Edge

Ampharos
- CP 2261 (Level 30)
- Volt Switch/Thunder

Flareon
- CP 2036 (Level 25)
- Fire Spin/Overheat

Omastar
- CP 1933 (Level 25.5)
- Water Gun/Rock Blast

*EDIT*
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I think I'm settled on what team and order I'll be using:

1. Golem (RT/RB)
2. Tyranitar (B/SE)
3. Zapdos (CB/ZC)
4. Raikou (TS/TB)
5. Jolteon (TS/TB)
6. Dragonite (DT/O)

I like to be diverse with my teams. If I happen to fail once, I'll TM the second Golem and then replace either Dragonite or Jolteon with him. Time to get my greasy hands on a nice praying mantis... Thanks again!

Golems all the way down.

This. I used my same legendary set to great success today.

It's hard to say, the best way is to put them all in pokebattler and sort by time to win. Your best bet is the double rock golem, Zapdos, raikou and ttar. If you can fast tm the other golem he will also be great. After that I would probably go for the jolteon and dragonite (if you have one with hurricane even better).

I haven't gotten to try a Scyther raid yet to know how tough they are, but you really want to prioritize rock attacks. You might be able to do it if you put your Golems (TMing Mud Slap to Rock Throw if you can) and Tyranitar first. After that, probably a toss-up between the Dragonite, Raikou and Flareon, but I suppose I'd try the Raikou in the 6th slot. Probably not the Flareon if you're going to leave it level 25, though, so maybe Zapdos instead.

I did a Scyther Raid today. My team was probably slightly better than yours and I had 30 seconds left. Change the Golem to double rock and you should be able to do it.

1. Golem
2. Golem
3. Raikou
4. Zapdos
5. Tyranitar
6. Dragonite

TL;DR
1. Tyranitar
2. Double Rock Golem
3. Fast TM the other Golem if you want
4-6. Zapdos + Raikou and Jolteon. Don't even need to dodge.

---

Scyther is not difficult due to double weakness and it's defence isn't that high, plus it's got a 50% chance of a non-challenging moveset - Fury Cutter is incredibly weak on defence, and the other move, Aerial Ace is resisted by many of it's counters.

It's got higher defence than Machamp and Gengar, the ones previously considered the easiest raids, but that's negated by the double weakness to rock.

Use the Tyranitar and the double rock Golem, if you have a spare fast TM I would suggest TMing the other Golem with Mud Slap to Rock Throw, as Rhydon is superior to Golem with that same moveset, and Scyther has a triple resistance to ground type moves.

Other than that you can use whatever, except for the Rhydon, because you'll be so far ahead of the clock timing out will not be an issue.

Stone Edge having double super-effectiveness is countered by Mud Slap being triple resisted, and Mud Slap does not have high energy gain to allow you to use Stone Edge frequently to make up for the damage loss. Rhydon doesn't even show up on the top 24 fastest Pokemon to take down Scyther against any moveset.

If you're trying to go for the fastest time possible I'd follow up with the Zapdos and Raikou, then lastly Jolteon due to Thunderbolt being a 2 bar move, though you probably won't even get to it.

I've learned to believe them when they say use rock Golem. Somebody will claim a fastest to finish record I'm sure

For sure. rock moves first, then electrics then Dragonite, since only it's charge move is super effective, though you probably won't even get to it, even if you don't dodge.

If you're close, this is a case where specialization matters. Night Slash Scyther is well opposed by Tyranitar, resisting dark. But X-Scizzors Scyther is hard on Tyranitar, since T-Tar is weak to bug. And the kicker is that Night slash is also the weakest charged move, so T-Tar is only on the team because of high CP, and does the best when the Boss is the worst. Not that useful. I'd recommend getting more Golems - they carry the freight against Scyther, until more rock mon come out in Gen3.

It really doesn't matter, Scyther is incredibly weak. Even against Air Slash + X Scissor a team of Tyranitars could just power through them without dodging.

Tyranitar is good not just due to its high CP but because it has a move that is double super effective and resists Air Slash which has a higher chance of occurring than X Scissor.

Ignoring the fury cutter movesets because they are no challenge, you've got a 2/3 chance of being in a favourable matchup resisting both moves and even against X Scissor you have the advantage, Bite is neutral while Air Slash is resisted, and Stone Edge is double super effective while X Scissor is only super effective.
