Help with Got-cha?

I have auto catch turned off because I just want it to spin stops, but it won’t stop recognizing Pokémon. The marker stays on top of a Pokémon and won’t spin the stops I walk by unless there are no Pokémon nearby. How can I fix this? I’m on newest iOS and the app firmware is updated.
