Hello darkness my old friend

NYC is typically great for Pokemon Go, but there's a serious Larvitar shortage. I still haven't seen one in the wild (even on the nearby list), but I was lucky enough to hatch one with 15/13/14 atk/def/hp. I walked 475 km with him, and just evolved him to get... B/FB. Bad attacking moveset, worst defending moveset, no real reason to ever use it. It would have high CP (3515 at lvl 37.5), but I can't in good conscience (walk another 910 km and) power him up knowing he's useless. Here's hoping they introduce TMs.

Anyone else have heartbreaking RNG stories?

I've hatched my way to 4 Tyranitars. They aren't available in the wild here either. All have junk movesets for offense so none of them are getting powered up. IT/FB. IT/SE (X2), B/FB.

Ouch, that's really rough. Well it sounds like they're much more common in eggs in your region (I've still only hatched the one), so best of luck with your next ones.

It's OK. It is just how RNG works. I've hatched 3 straight DT Dragonites since the first disappointing Tyranitar. Before that I had a huge run of SW Dragons. It will eventually all even out.

I'm the same with Dragonite. Level 34 and still no Dragonite. Dratini don't spawn here. So I walked hundreds of kms and now finally have enough to evolve him. I've actually been holding off as I'm scared I will get a bad defending moveset.

Sure:) back when arcanine was relevant I evolved 6 bulldoze in a row. Almost statistically impossible, but it most certainly happened. The worst part is growlithes are semi rare and were mostly obtained through hatching.

I finally got a non bulldoze, by then it didn't matter after the rebalances. Also, after many attempts I never evolved a perfect set alakazam while they were sought after either. I feel ya.

Dealing with Espeon now. Hopefully will get a good one before a rebalance. Good luck with tyranitar.

Hatched my first Larvitar only yesterday. 15/15/13 IV's!!! Haven't seen a single one in the wild.
Immediately dropped my buddy to start walking it. Maybe a month from now I can tell you the moveset??!!

Congrats on the hatch, and best of luck whenever you evolve it!

Most evolutions result in disappointment, considering the fact that, for most Pokemon, only 1-2 out of 6 movesets are considered to be optimal for attacking. The odds are not in your favour, consider this "normal" luck as opposed to bad luck.

I have too many shitty evolutions to count. Very sad.

Hatched 804 eggs... hatched one snorlax 75%IV, zero lapras. Only seen/caught one snorlax 62% IV in wild. Never seen lapras. Hatched first dratini 90+% evolved with sw/hp last week. only one other D nite 70% IV. Evoloved 7 gyarados 4 had twister, only one with hydropump... only two machamps BP/SE and BP/HS.. only scisor BP/NS... You're gonna be okay man I feel like I've had subpar luck in this game after all that work...

Disturb version of sound of silence keeps playing in my head since I first seen your post title :)
Appears I'm quite lucky with my important evolves. Only Rhydon play tricks on me and gives me rock smash, so no lvl 35 Rhydon from me in gyms for now.
A, and only Eq and HS on Snorlax, more lick than ZH, but at least I can talk about multiple Snorlax between 2800-3000 :).

I've had the greatest luck with hatching 10k eggs with Lavitars. I've got this guy who is good but idk I feel like the issue with tyranitar is the huge water meta around me. He survives with being having good defenders 92% Iv
