Absent a guide looking for other examples people have successfully done. Did one in cloudy weather yesterday with 8 machamps (4 lvl 38-40, 4 lvl 30-33), one Rhyperior (30), a rhydon (32), a golem (35) and a hariyama (33), all with optimal movesets. Needed one set of max revives and got it with about 18 seconds left. Had stone Edge, which I think is the easiest move to beat... What have other people done?

In any weather, Rhyperior and groudon are supreme counters, even cloudy machamp doesnt come close to them (level 30 its duoable with the ground types at best friends). Other than that, ive heard Rhydon, golem, the nido's, Flygon, swampert in neutral weather

For comparision, Machamp's DPs in cloudy vs bugbite/SE is 26.6, Rhyperior's 28 DPS

And if I had any Groudon's I'd definitely use them! I had one Rhyperior at the time - just evolved a second (98%, was contemplating saving for a possible CD, but decided it was worth having a second decent ground attacker). My partner had no Groudon or Rhyperior either, so we made do with what we had!

Even if you dont have Rhyperior, Rhydon isnt far behind. Against non iron headsets, its viable at level 30 for duos. When at the same level, the ground types outperform anything else.

Given what you had, the machamp are the better counters but only because the superior counters in a vacuum were underleveled. Had the rhyperior and Rhydon been higher leveled, they would have outperformed the machamp.

"Wow, great job on the duo! Here are other options people have used." was the correct response, not picking apart what they did use because that was available.

He has to make a poopy in his pants any time a Machamp is used/brought up in a positive light

No we've seen other pokemon be switched out infavor of other options over small out DPS'ing, expecially when its that close because of weather boost and theres a sizable TDO difference, meaning not only is it doing less damage, but fainting out more often. In an actual raid, the difference is more than 1.4 DPS

Take away the boost, machamp drops hard.

If we were talking about an alternative scenario where Metagross was in place of Machamp I guarantee you'd be championing Metagross as being close enough and being a good option

In that senario, metagross has significantly more TDO, an external condition, in ever case Rhyperior bests machamp, better DPS and TDO, the comparison between metagross and machamp would differ in one having superior TDO and other in DPS, not one being in everyway better.

IOn the senario machamp has the superior DPS and the superior TDO to metagross, machamp is the better alternative, but when one has better TDO and the other DPS, there s no true better answer in general, it is down to the individual to make that judgement

From a raid yesterday, I can tell you that a level 34.5 Rhyperior (arbitrarily what I had had a Rhydon powered up to) is tough enough to deliver two EQs against a weather boosted Iron Head Heatran, so don't let the Heatran moveset dissuade you from using it.

I haven't done any personally but a multitude of Heatran duos have been posted to TSR. Notable ones include Gyarados only in the rain and Machamp only with and without weather boost.

Iron head specifically. The fight ends just after 30 seconds remaining. Technically speaking, L40 Gyarados still has a less than two estimator on Pokebattler with best friends in rain against both Stone Edge sets.

I spent a few hours driving around with a friend and we Duo’ed 6 total. Both had a team of level 30-40 Groudon. Fireblast was the hardest moveset, however we still beat every one with about a minute left. Caught a few with Pinaps. Wanted to get some candy in. It’s an easy Duo with Groudon. I didn’t try anything else.
