GamePress

Heads up Gamepress

Some adds are now popping up for me of the takeover variety. You know, those "you've won a free whatever" type adds. I'll screenshot the next one.

Hey, we don't have direct control as to what ads show up on the site, but I will contact our ad provider to see what can be done to prevent this from happening again.

Sorry for the annoyance.

No problem. Thanks for looking into it. It's a rather minor inconvience anyway for such a great site.

One reason I read this site over the other PoGo sites is the lack of adds aimed at the 18 yo male on this site. I not a total prude but I really don't like the visuals that goes along with those adds.

The adds I'm talking about actually take you completely off the site and to theirs without ever clicking anything. Very aggravating and it actually happened to me when I hit reply to your message.

I do not mind adds at all. Sites need them to provide me with content which isn't free. But adds that transfer you to other sites altogether? That's different. I do not run a blocker from this phone for various reasons and it would be an inconvienience to do so plus it would block the non intrusive adds that sites such as this rely on. So these need to go.

JHVS, I totally agree with you,
Adds that take involuntarily you to another site are awful.
Adds are necessary for this site to exist, totally ok with that.
Adds that show (underage looking) women in thongs annoy me a lot.
(this site does not have that, so I stay here and read this site for my pogo community)

You have to see Ted 2, there is a great reference to how many clicks it takes to get to.....I really can't type it but it is super funny.

Ads that force you to another page are normally the result of compromised advertisers/affiliates that use one of various methods to redirect the browser, or server-side infections that redirect pages by a low chance (so that the site is still usable, so the problem is likely to be unnoticed for longer). We had that a while back on a forum I use, and it took months to get the admins to sort it out.

And this is why I never browse the internet without an Adblocker...After the annoyance of having videos auto play on other sites a few years back, I installed on my router and never looked back.

Never knew there was ads to begin with.
