Have they fixed gps drift ?

When at home I sometimes found my avatar randomly drifting about (gps drift) as im sure many has experienced.

However, for the past two days whenever ive opened the game at home to check IV's and such, i have noticed im completely stationary and exactly where I should be at all times.

I remember reading something a few weeks back about how a android change effected cheaters or some such by changing how they change location quickly or some such, is this related to this ?

and has anyone else noticed improved gps accuracy lately aka less gps drift?

No.
When I'm at home I keep on teleporting to some places ~500meters far, and back home.
I gain distance for buddy and eggs this way, so I'm fine with that LOL

It is what your phone reports that causes it so it's likely something on your end. I'm no expert in it but from what I understand it uses lots of local information to try and stay accurate like local wifi you are sensitive to. It could be something as simple as a better configuration of it in your particular area.

Also are you unknowingly running an app in the background that has access to your location services?

Yes actually
and I've already suspected that but not been able to directly link it to the changes.

Basically i tried to think...OK what's changed on my phones end in the rough timeframe since i noticed the gps drift change.

And ive recently downloaded the lucozade sport app + Google Fit (as it uses google fit as the source of all its data/distance tracking) the lucozade app accepts codes from the bottles you buy and you can get rewards.

Basically...google fit, incase you dont know, is a sport/activity tracking app...a pedometer etc.

So obviously its directly related to gps and what not.

Like I said I actually already suspected this and tried to see if it made a difference if I tried some things, force closed the Google fit app, turned of activity tracking in the apps settings then opened pogo, but saw no effect.

So short of actually uninstalling the apps ive not been able to link it to the GPS drift changes.

So can this sort of thing actually affect pokemon go? Other apps using my location change how pokemon go registers my location is? Hows that work lol

I've noticed GPS drift depends on many factors, and type of OS and device is a major one. I'm having serious drift with S7 edge whereas iPhone SE has no drift at all in the same areas. Other folks have reported major drift with iPhone.. go figure!

for me it depends on the building

I can no longer even get a GPS reading in my home except of of my home network location (I used to )

at work I used to get about 7km a day of drift
now I get about half of that.
