Have Niantic let us down?
I think most of us are pretty bored with the state of the game at the moment. We needed Gen 2 over Xmas. Niantic gave us silly Pikachu santa hats.

The seemingly low hatch rate of baby 'mon is not helping, either. I get more frustrated with every common Gen 1 hatch.
I really thought we would see an event announcement yesterday. The Watch app is nice and at least Santa won't let me down on Sunday, so I have that to look forward too (but I think I am in the minority).
At the very least, I am still hoping for a single gift wrapped present on the 25th from Niantic in one of those fancy boxes found in the code. Maybe our present will be to force us to interact more with our loved ones. :)

Nope, not here at least, new year's eve is just a night and Christmas vacations lasts for around 10-15 days, from the 22th to the 5th all kids are out of school and a lot of people has at least 1 week off work. Niantic has already made a big mistake in my opinion, making a 10-15 days event would have been a better choice, still don't know what are they waiting for the release of the event.
I hope their sales are going down fast so they realize their mistakes and start working harder and faster, last update is full of bugs. I haven't updated to the last version seeing the hundreds of complaints on reddit about people that can't even play anymore.
