Has anyone with an older phone had solo t3 success?

Defeated by my phone?

Someone on TSR rated phones for this game and claims mine, Galaxy S5, is one of the worst. So am I just wasting my time (and potions)?

Honest opinions are appreciated.

I have a Note 3. It came out a little earlier (2013 vs. 2014 for the S5) than the Galaxy S5 so they maybe similar in performance...

I just soloed my 1st, a Machamp. It had Bullet Punch/Close Combat...Prob easiest movesets are 1 bar charge moves since you KNOW when he will launch it when you are solo.

I haven't soloed others yet, but that could also be due to not trying (not wanting to waste passes).

I have only tried to solo Arcanine 3 times...My best failed team has been very close with hardly any red health left...Maybe less lag and I could win, but don't really have time to keep trying over and over again...I pretty much have unlimited potions/revives so it's mostly a time thing for me...

I think lag plays a bigger role than people make it out to be since if your graphics, animation, everything is 20% slower, you will simply also do 20% less DPS. I think this is because when my wife does her evolve parties, she can easily do 90+ (iPhone 7Plus) and I normally only get 65 or so...

Try Machamp or I hear Gengar first...Focus on easier boss movesets with 1 bar moves...Dodge at least 1 and make sure everyone on your team unleases 2 or 3 Future Sights...That's pretty much it I believe...

Congrats! You give me hope. I've come close with Machamp and Vape, and will keep trying. On the other hand, if it's not the phone maybe it's the inept operator making excuses ;)

For some, you need to dodge (skill) and generally have a bigger time buffer (Machamp)...For Arcanine, Golem is pretty tanky vs. fire/electric (.714 and .51) so my 3x 2600+ Rock Golems don't dodge much and it's still a timeout thing so there is little skill in spamming quick attacks and unleashing charge moves immediately.

If I see a deal on an S8+, I'd upgrade in an instant and it would be cool to compare...Just too cheap to spend money myself on a phone just to play a simple mobile game right now. Hoping for decent deals this holiday season since my battery is starting to not charge/die as well so it's just a matter of time now.

I'm planning to get the S8 soon, but would like to solo at least one t3 before then. Again, thanks!

Galaxy S5 has the same cpu (Snapdragon 801) as my Xiaomi Mi Note ( got it back in 2015 ). Although mine has slightly more ram, 3GB vs 2GB for S5, 2GB should be sufficient I think.

Here are my T3 solo attempts :)

This is the performance, with screen recording too, though 3GB ram definitely helps in this regards.

Very good point!
I have tried to argue here and with friends that there are much more important factors than an attack IV at 15 instead of 14 :-)

Telephone lag is certainly one of the most important if you are pressing the limits.

I'm really impressed by anyone who solos t3, but especially with the odds against you. Those precious seconds that older phones cost you can make all the difference!

Still working on alakazam with confusion in tier 3 boss
I have beat all (edited: i mean other) soloable tier 3 raid (no flareon and jolteon is not soloable for me)
I am using an old iphone 5S, altough some said iphone have slightly better performance in POGo than android at the same level
I always close apps and clear my ram first before doing a raid..

I used a S5 for over 13,000 gym battles before upgrading to S8+. S5 overheats easily, and battery runs down quick.

But, there is simple salvation. Use blue ice pack underneath the S5 when needed, guaranteed to eliminate cpu lag during gym/raid battles. You will be amazed by how much you appreciate your S5 again. Also, bring battery pack.

I don't go anywhere without my external battery! The ice pack idea is a good one. So overheating causes some of that lag? Sometimes I hold the phone in front of the car's A/C vents when it overheats, but that doesn't help when I'm outside.

Thanks, I'll have to try that.

I have an iPhone 5S, I've soloed Machamp a few times with 10-15s to spare but I've been fortunate to only battle against ones with Close Combat.

Battles start around 177s remaining and there is lag when it comes to energy gain, so my charge move is usually delayed by one extra quick move usage, which is kind of annoying on Confusion Alakazam, but not a big deal on Pokemon with 2 bar charge moves.

Machamp with CC is the easiest level 3 raid I believe, so my experience isn't saying much. I've not tried other raids because I don't have enough powered up counters.

I failed against CC Machamp, but barely. I will be so proud when I finally defeat him or other "easy" t3 bosses. I figure if I can do that with my old phone I can take on bigger challenges (Zam?) when I finally get the S8.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I remember you posting about attempting soloing Machamp, so if you're wondering what my team is, it's 2 Alakazams with C/FS and C/P, Exeggutor with E/So, Gengar H/Sh, Lugia with E/SA and that's all I needed, and in that order.

At first I was using a DT/O a Dragonite as my fifth and Lugia 6th but it was just using an extra revive when I only needed 5.

All are level 30 except one Alakazam which is 31.

The Alakazams usually only get one charge move off and Exeggutor 2 Solars, both without dodging.
