Gym Rework Coming.
As the breaking news of celebrating the first anniversary of pokemon go spreading out, the gym rework is affirmatively coming in June, according to the announcement "In preparation for these exciting features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms for a short period of time", I'm wondering what will happen to the current pokemons sitting in the gyms, will they be kicked out? If thats the case it would be a shame, since some of mine are sitting in some remote gyms, producing coins everyday, and I will probably be unable to reach the same gyms any time soon...

The rest of that quote tells usthat all mons will be returned to players.
