Gym change. Good or bad for you?

I was happy to be an Instinct member. I chose them because they are few here and it made me kind of proud to defeat all the other gyms and to go against the majority. I was able to collect my coins right away.

Now, how am I going to collect any coins without my team members constantly feeding the pokemon inside a gym?

It is still early but I have a very bad feeling if it stays the way it is right now.

Also, whats the difference of a lvl 38 or a lvl 35 blissey? The CP drops either way. Now it simply drops 20 min faster for the lvl 35 one...

I have to admit I am quite disappointed :/ Hopefully they gonna fix one thing or another. For example giving coins for taking out a full gym or anything like that. Since holding an Instinct gym is not quite an option

If the mechanic of PokéCoins haven't been changed in the next few weeks, I might quit the game just after hitting level 30.

Niantic, you may lose far more players than expected, even more than the players who want to come back.

Isn't it a little bit early to judge the system? Players have not even been able to play a full cycle, lest adapting to it. Only after 100 hours, in three more days, will players feel the effect of defenders stuck in stagnant gyms not generating any coins. Which will be especially nice if all the 20 defenders you are allowed to place are stuck. Only then they will realize that the days of holding gyms are over. Once that sets in, it does not make sense any more to compulsively take back any gym as soon as possible. After all, you want to encourage the other teams to tear it down eventually. And within a few days ripe targets will appear, where all defenders are down in motivation, and which can be taken over with minimum effort.

As for myself, I placed 7 defenders yesterday, about one hour after the start (late at night, pouring rain, thunderstorm). Of these, two came home within an hour, coinless. One more during the night, bringing single-digit coins. Two more came home this morning, bringing 10+ coins. One remains. Meanwhile, the five defenders I placed this morning on my way to work are all still out, clocking at over three hours for three coins each. Long story short, at least in my region the new system is working.

"As of myself, I placed 7 defenders yesterday"
I guess that you are part of the majority team in a relatively low disputed area.

"It does not make sense any more to compulsively take back any gym as possible"
Can you please elaborate?

Well, as for myself I live on a small town with around 8 gyms and contested area with spoofers, my 3,3k CP Snorlax lost 300 CP as soon as I placed him on a level 6 gym...4 hours later it was only 600 CP and 1 battle away to get kicked out. And all of this for 4 miserable coins? Of course won't even talk about my 4 other defenders that all came to me in less than an hour with zero coins...

This system benefits cheaters, spoofers and people on the dominating team on low contested areas, period. The rest of players are screwed.

Totally agree with you.
I do not see how I can get coins being also the minority team.

They should give 1 coin for each battle won.
